16 month old with Aspergers symptoms

I have a 16 month old son Colton that has most of the Aspergers symptoms. In

fact he has everyone except poor eye contact. His Dr. swears that because of

this there is no way possible that he can have Aspergers. He will stare and look

right at people mostly just people he knows. But alot of times when he looks at

you its like he has this complete blank stare. But for me and his father he will

look at us and talk to us and smile. I'm confused. please help me.
