Guest guest
Hi Carla! The oldest copy of Tae Bo and the new Get Ripped 8 minute? Hmmmmm.... I think you would do yourself a whole lot more good getting some of the newer tapes. Personally I think the new LIVE and Get Ripped workouts are MUCH better than the original set. The best deal out there IS the Get Ripped series. It's available at QVC and at TaeBo.com. The set offered at TaeBo.com comes with an instructional, an 8 minute, 2 basics and 2 advanced. The set at QVC comes with IMPACT Instructional, and the dame 8 min., 2 basics and 2 advanced. If QVC is still offering it at their super low special, that's the better deal. Have FUN! Carol << I joined the group several months ago and have not done my Tae-Bo Booooooo Carla (everyone Join in) ok...I have so many questions. I just won the Get Ripped 8 minute workout from Ebay. Has anyone used this tape. Now remember I am a novice and am not very coordinated, but I am so willing to try. I also have the older Tae- Bo literally the first one to come out. Am I missing something having this?????? Should I buy an entire set or can I get beneficial results from what I have. I feel as if I am missing out on a good workout (ok I am because I have yet to do it) Procrastination at it's best. Okay anyway....I guess since I have the " older " tapes that I figure the " newer " are better. Is there any truth to this statement. Also if anyone has read " The Tae-Bo Way " I sure would like feedback, I hope to get a copy, but it is 25 dollars, well....if anyone can help me with your insight to this book I would greatly appreciate it. Another ? When do you do your workout. My husband and I have discussed literally getting up at 4 to get a great workout in, plus this leaves me plenty of time to get some housework done before I must rush off to work. Nobody here will " boo " you. Hopefully, 's message motivated you to do taebo tomorrow (it sure did me!). I can promise you that you will feel better when you do that. You will feel the pride of accomplishment, the joy of movement, the exhileration from the endorphins being releases, ... I could go on and on! Don't worry about the next day or next week; just put in that tape tomorrow! Let us know how it goes. I second Carol's recommendation that you purchase the Get Ripped 6-pack from QVC. It has tapes for all levels and energy levels at a very reasonable (even cheap) price. Having a variety of tapes helps motivate you. Definitely get the Taebo Way (it sounds like your husband may have taken care of that for you). It is very motivating and explains the correct form. The best time to exercise is when you do it! If the morning works for you and your husband, then definitely do taebo then. Good luck! Elena
Guest guest
Carla, I wont boo you so there phbbbttttt. It seems like you are making a concerted effort to become involved again and that's what counts. As for the GR8. I like it a lot!!! But yes, you should get more tapes in order to get the most benefit, especially if you just have the older one. Variety will keep you interested and rotating workouts will confuse your muscles which will train them faster. (some workouts have more floor work, or concentrate mostly on the legs, etc.) As for the Taebo way. Check the library, half.com or e-bay. I know they have it my library. As for getting up 4AM, that's great if its realistic. I usually go to bed about that time lol. If not maybe work with 2-3 times after work on the weekdays and Saturday and Sunday. Good luck! a << I joined the group several months ago and have not done my Tae-Bo Booooooo Carla (everyone Join in) ok...I have so many questions. I'm glad I bought it. You didn't mention what kind of shape you're in so I don't know if this will help or not but I was in BAD shape when I started and was recovering from a knee injury so I really took it easy and didn't push myself. I only did the arms at first and then slowly started adding the legs. I got a good workout and I didn't get discouraged because I couldn't keep up. I used the Studio tapes which might be what you have. The music isn't as great but those tapes are what got me hooked on taebo. Hope that helps!!! Now go Taebo!!!! Guest guest
Dawn, Thank you for your reply. I am in horrible shape. I've had surgery on both of my legs so I am timid about starting. I also have bad knees. I have changed my eating habits and feel much 'lighter' if that makes sense. " the tae bo way " is suppose to be a present from my husband and I'm so excited. I would never ever buy myself something like that. I'm too frugal. I think I am going to LOVE this group, I only wish my computer at home was up and running, I'll miss everyone this weekend. I have not done the tape yet. I'm scared because I had the surgery and ya never know now a days. I had a staph infection from the hospital and it took me so long to heal. I know I am making excuses, but when the doctor releases me for high impact exercise I am going to jump in with both feet, until then I will be practicing some of the moves in the instructional video. I'm 32...married with no kids, five feet seven inches and approx. 170#. I tried sit ups last night and got so pissed at myself that it was unreal, I have no muscles in my stomach and even though my husband was coaching me through them I could NOT DO THEM CORRECTLY and it made me angry, it hurt my shoulders and my neck, and I thought I was doing them right. Oh well he (hubby) thinks all I need to do is the crunches and I will lose the weight. I've tried to tell him you cannot spot lose, that aerobic exercise is the only way to get it off with a proper diet and he won't listen. I don't know how I can do this w/o his support. Sorry to write such a long post. I just really need someone to listen and you all are so kind to do that. Hearts and Tae-Bo hugs, Carla > > I joined the group several months ago and have not done my Tae-Bo > > Booooooo Carla (everyone Join in) > > yeaaa Carla for writing :-) We'll get you working out soon :-) > > > > I just won the Get Ripped 8 minute workout from Ebay. Guest guest
ELENA, Thank you so much!!! I truly appreciate the support that I'm getting here. The ivillage group that I was on never really got the answers to my questions and although I felt support, I didn't see so much of it you know. I am going to check out QVC, I have shopped with them before. I did not do the TaeBo this morning, but plan to do it this evening. I figure why not try to start this all on a Friday, because if I do it on Monday by the end of the week I'm ready for Mc's super size extra value meal. NO LIE....I am digging deep and remembering what mom told us growing up. Get out and move! Have fun! Why do we (meaning me) grow up running and jumping only to get a little older and think that fun is just for kids. I played with my friends dog last night until we both were pooped. Then I tried some crunches (I can't do them...no muscles in my tummy I used my neck and shoulders..need to learn better form.) Thank you all for your support and I am so glad that I feel that I've made some friends here. Guest guest
Elena, Don't worry about it. I didn't say anything before. I feel good, but the incision areas are still tender so I will wait unti good ol doc releases me. But he said it was ok for low impact, so I may go swim tonight at the Y. I just learned last summer (32yrs) and I cannot swim very far, but I can snorkle and I truly enjoy that, so I will probably go tonite or tomorrow. Sunday is for family, church and NASCAR, that is where I got my yahoo name. For Bobby Labonte. He drives car #18 and I wanna see him Win. LOL....I'm ate up with Nascar. LMAO This group is the best and I really feel that yall care about me, I cannot thank you all enough. I will check back with you all around noon EST. Guest guest
Carla, Hi! Don't boo yourself, it's okay. It's tough to get started, but once you do, you don't want to stop! I just got the Get Ripped series yesterday, and I definitely recommend getting it. It's a great deal, 6 tapes for only $40. I tried the pink Basic yesterday, and I love it!!! If you can afford to, get these tapes. You can get results from what you have, but I believe that you would get bored pretty easily, which may cause you to quit. Doing the same tape every day just gets old. We have a bookstore here, The Book Warehouse that sells new books that have been out for at least 6 months. They have " The Tae-Bo Way " , for only 7 dollars!!! No tax, either. They have a bunch of them. I looked through it yesterday, and it looked great. I could always buy it and send it out. It's a lot cheaper than $25! If you can get yourself up early in the morning, I would do that. I'm not a morning person, so I tae-bo in the afternoon or evening. Morning is a great time to do it if you can, it gives you energy for the day. Well, keep us updated on your progress. Good luck! Guest guest
AmyC: Thank you so much for the offer. I may take you up on the book offer if my husband does not win it on eBay. I hope he does, he put in a proxy bid so that he wouldn't have to pay the $25. I am going to check out QVC to see what their prices are on the Get Ripped set. I agree, I would quit and get bored. I tried Austin's tv show for a week and there is just something about her I dunno, but she is a great motivator but I just couldn't get into it. Thanks a bunch. I will let you know on Monday if I need you to send me a book. what a good person you are to offer. Guest guest
Just to give you an idea, the book is 38$ at Chapters.ca. Usually, book rate from the US is about 4$ canadian funds with standard mail. If you do decide to have it bought for you, be sure to have it labelled as a gift, or else, you will have to pay customs on it. Janick Re: I really need some help. Carla, Hi! Guest guest
Carla - It certainly sounds like you have a lot going on. Have you discussed what kinds of exercise you can do with your doctor? I've had one knee surgery and I re-injured that knee last summer, so I know that it is extremely important to find out what is safe for you to do so that you don't inhibit your recovery. Your doc should be able to provide special exercises for you to do for your legs. Most of which will be done while sitting or laying down and/or he can refer you to physical therapy....which I would rather call physical torture :-) Anybody whose gone through it knows what I mean....it can hurt sooo bad..and then they'll do the massages or the whirlpool and it feels soooo good :-) Anyway...you can do taebo sitting down and get a great workout....and perhaps you can pick out several exercises...crunches, leg lifts etc. and do a few sets of each one. No matter what you do. It is more than you did yesterday. You will increase your flexibility and your endurance. The crunches might not make you " spot " lose in your stomach...but they will get you moving and....I'm sure your heart rate went up a little while you were doing them....even if it was because you were irritated LOL!! You know, I wasn't there...but it certainly sounded like your hubby was supportive. He was there helping you and offering suggestions. Guys can be very literal and express things differently than we do, and I especially hate it when they lose weight faster or do things better but the fact that he was trying to help is really sweet!! Guest guest
Dawn, Thank you for the support. I have spoken to the doctor and he has released me for low impact, on May 15th I am anxious to hear what I will be doing from then on, that is my next appointment. As long as I take it slow I will be fine. I had hidradenitis, some do not know what that is, here is a break down, it clogs up your sweat & oil glands and produces horribly painful boils, I got it while waiting tables at the Outback here in town. I am very sensitive and we had to triple dye our jeans to make them super navy blue, well I was allergic to the dye and this problem arose. However I went 6 years trying to find a dr. who knew what was wrong, and I did and they performed the surgery then 8 months later another surgery for the same thing. It is chronic, I may never be the same girl I was 7 years ago, but I have learned to live with it and thank goodness my husband is understanding about it. I have a twin and she has it under her arms. The oil and sweat glands are so small that it can never be completely removed, so I will have to have yet another surgery in a few years if it comes back like it was. Nobody knows why my twin got it but one doc told me it was heredity and I always carried the gene just the dye woke it up from a 30+ year sleep. LOL...I can laugh now, but it was horrible. I am better and feel as if I could conquer the moon but I know not to do anything the dr tells me not to do, so I am pretty much anxious to get started. I have a call in to him to see if he can tell me what to do. My stomach muscles are tight right now and I didn't think I had any. LOL, My dear sweet husband was very supportive of me last night, but yelled when I was doing them wrong. I think he missed his calling as a Drill Instructor. He'd make a good one. Guest guest
Janick, That's a good point, I didn't think about customs. $7 is a pretty good deal, huh! Thanks for the tip. Guest guest
, Yes, Janick said that it is about $4 Canadian, what is that in US? I can't remember the rate. If you want me to, let me know, and I can pick it up next week! Guest guest
If you weigh and measure the book, and then obtain 's postal code, you could probably get a quote from the USPS website. Anything that's in canadian funds, multiply by 0.6, that'll give you an idea of how much our dollar is worth! Guest guest
Carla, Ok, just let me know whether or not you win the book on ebay. I'd be happy to do it...I myself was pretty surprised at how cheap the book was. They had numerous copies, and they are in new condition. Definitely check on the Get Ripped tapes! I tried my first basic last night, and loved it! So much different from the studio tapes. $40 for six tapes is really great, and that is what I paid for them. It does really help to rotate them. I like Austin, but I've never really watched her. I did just get 3 FIRM tapes from musicgraveyard, and they seem to be pretty good. I plan on rotating them with tae-bo, and I am also going to start yoga. From what I've heard, that really helps with your mindset. Have you thought about doing anything like that? Good luck with everything...I hope you reach all of your goals! AmyC --- car18win@... wrote: > AmyC: > Thank you so much for the offer. Hearts and Tae-Bo hugs, Carla >> Carla, What type of situps exactly were you doing. Were you going all the way up? The sit ups we did in gym class are a big no-no nowadays. If you want an abs tape or some slow steady tapes e-mail me at GalofGOP@... I think I have a few I don't use anymore I could send your way. It might help you ease into Taebo once you get the doctors A-OK and notice I said EASE into. Don't hit it full throttle please. Since you are not accustomed to exercise its very important you take it slow. And you know what, you'll still get results. Beginners have a bit of an advantage because their bodies aren't use to doing exercise 6-7 days a week. They can get away with 3-4 for a few months to start off with and still see some great results if they are consistent and don't justify overeating because of their exercise program. Many people who jump right in, jump out again after a month or two. These people start and stop exercise throughout their lives. I really think if you ease into it and take your time you will enjoy it more and be more apt to stick with it. Talk to your doctor about what types of exercise you can do NOW. Don't let him weasel around, demand an answer! Carla, I have the Tae-Bo Way book and it is great. I bought mine from an ebay auction for $4 (I think). They pop up on there from time.
