Guest guest
Hi - Thank you for sharing such a wonderful day with your mom. Definitely a memory to cherish in your heart. I am glad to see the 'smoking pot' situation made you laugh. I have to admit I got a chuckle out of it myself. Smiling through this journey is the best medicine. ....and a Happy Belated Thanksgiving to you and all our Canadian members...I knew it on Monday and completely forgot to mention it. Sandie -- Canadian Thanksgiving and a smile Hi All My Mum has been in really good shape for the last few months so as a family we thought it was important to get the whole family together while Mum still remembers all of us to celebrate Thanksgiving. The 12 of us (3 generations) gathered at my house (I live in the country) and had a beautiful traditional Thanksgiving feast. 25lb Turkey, stuffing, cranberry, pumpkin pie, etc. I even decorated my home with all the harvest-type decorations. Mum had a super time, she ate well and admired my house. She was enjoying an exceptionally lucid day. The sons-in-law sat on my back deck and entertained her while she raved about the autumn colours. We had much to be thankful for. On Wednesday when I went as usual to visit Mum, she remembered about Thanksgiving and commented on the delicious food, what a great job I had done on my house decorations etc. etc. Then she went on to looking a little sad and said - " Isn't it too bad the kids had to ruin it? " " What do you mean Mum? " , says I. " Well, the kids were smoking pot in your living room. " " I don't think so Mum " " Oh yes, but they stopped when I came into the room " " Mum, your grandchildren were not smoking pot " " Well maybe it was before you got there " , says Mum. It wasn't worth arguing with her so I dropped it. For a minute I was a bit upset that she somehow thinks her 5 very conservative grandchildren are " Potheads " but then I had to see the humour in it. My sisters and I have now all chuckled over it, as have the 5 kids who were supposed to have been smoking pot. We figure she overheard part of a conversation I was having with the kids (funnily enough about pot) and that was the impression she was left with. Happy belated Thankgiving to all the Canadian LBD Caregivers.
