> Jo,any ideals on what arthritis med I can take???

Pat, I got your phone message but it was late.

To the best of my knowledge we are not restricted in taking Nsaids...NSAIDs are

sometimes also referred to as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. The most

prominent members of this group of drugs are aspirin, ibuprofen(Motrin), and

naproxen(Aleve) partly because they are available over-the-counter.

Below is the most common Nsaids. As you can see you were already taking an

Nsaid when you were taking Celebrex.

Which over the counter Nsaid you should take? The one that gives you the most

relief with the least amount of tummy upset!

aspirin

celecoxib (Celebrex)

diclofenac (Voltaren)

diflunisal (Dolobid)

etodolac (Lodine)

ibuprofen (Motrin)

indomethacin (Indocin)

ketoprofen (Orudis)

ketorolac (Toradol)

nabumetone (Relafen)

naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn)

oxaprozin (Daypro)

piroxicam (Feldene)

salsalate (Amigesic)

sulindac (Clinoril)

tolmetin (Tolectin)

Hope this helps.

Hugs

Jo

This is Diane, over in Atascadero; I have real bad artirist in my left knee and

will be going for a knee replacement this fall. I've used naproxen for several

years, it's the only one that works for me. But I always take it with food, like

yogurt.Because of stomach issues.Otherwise the knee is very painful when I want

to walk.Good luck.

My insurance has decided that they aren't going to

pay for my celebrex anymore and I have to go to another

med. Well one of these that they gave me has another

pill to go with it, plus is isn't good for the heart.

And on top of that it says it can be used for an unwanted

pregency???? I am not taking those pills!!!

What I need to know is what otc can I take that won't

upset the tummy. I need something as my joints are

really hurting, and if I can get an otc med, I will

just take that....

God bless,

Pat

I take advil liquid gels for daytime pain.

I take gasX (simethicone) several times a day for gas.

I drink an occasional Guiness beer....and that helps me poop! LOL!? Guiness has

less carbonation than all the other beers, and I dont ever drink soda, so I

think that is what the swelling/bloating is about with most.? I dont get

'buzzed' with the beer unless I drink it too fast...so I just sip it over a few

hours timeframe.? It is nice to have when socializing and the benefit of being

able to have a bowel movement is a definate plus for my severe constipation

problems.

I have taken tylenol rapid release gels in the past, but was told it was really

bad for the liver.? Since I have to take Vicoden or Norco, I can no longer take

any other tylenol (acetominophen) products.

So Advil liquid gels are my little pain relief.
