Hi,

My name is Gita and I just joined the group. I'm really new to

Still's disease because I just got diagnosed last April. Fortunately,

I was diagnosed right after I finished all my course work in college,

so I was able to take a term off before graduation (and I graduated

this spring)! I've actually been very depressed, because before I got

sick I was a long distance runner, dancer and capoeirista (brazilian

martial arts). Now, I can barely go up and down the stairs. It's

been really nice to know that there are others out there who have

dealt with Still's. I hope I can be as strong as you guys. Take care

Gita

Hi Gita,

Welcome to our group. How sad you were diagnosed after college, but how wonderful you came back to graduate!

I was diagnosed after my first semester of college. My first symptoms began after standing to lay my Microbiology final on the Professor's desk. A year after being told I'd never be able to go back to college, I did, graduating early, with honors, and worked for years as a RN. This was all done with varying doses of prednisone and Imuran. The working years are treasured!

Sometimes it doesn't seem hope is in sight. Never give up. Arm yourself with the ammunition you need - be informed on Stills Disease. Try to know what is going on with all aspects of your disease and understand the medication you are swallowing, injecting, or inhaling! I'm glad you found the Stills Group. These are the best people I've ever met!

Peace,

Barbara
