Guest guest
Hey Lori, just read your email and am sorry to hear that you could be suffering from salmonella poisoning from bad shrimp....it will definitely make me think twice about eating shrimp as I have always been cautious of it as it is but hearing how you have become sick twice now from it makes me even more cautious....I can't stand throwing up. Please rest and take it easy while you get over it as we don't want you to start flaring because you had to stop your meds. I do hope you feel better very soon. Take care, Marilyn ----Original Message Follows---- Hey all. I went to the doc today, and found out that i may have salmonella poisoning. I've been throwing up off and on the last week and 4 days!!!THis is the second time shrimp has made me sick. Its awful, I can hardly eat and have bad body aches. I guess i've had it for so long because my body has not been able to fight it off with all the immunosupresive drugs I'm on. So i have to (for the first time ever since i started) go off enbrel and mtx Not happy. This sort of thing ever happend to anyone else. Guest guest
Hi Lori, So sorry to read that you have Salmonella and are so sick. My next door neighbor cannot eat Shrimp but I don't know if that's the same thing as getting Salmonella from it. She's highly allergic to it. At least you had the smarts to head to the doctor when you weren't getting better. I am off my Enbrel while I get better from an infection on my arm and so far I haven't noticed too much except getting a bit stiff in my knees, fingers and ankles. Do you know how long you will not be able to take it and how will you know when you are better? Are you still throwing up????? YUK !!!! I can just picture you being carried into the hotel in Vegas on a stretcher. I sure hope you are better by then. Take care, Carmen

Guest guest
Lori, Im so sorry you have been so sick, I hate being sick like that, I would rather have a stills flare with pain than to be throwing up and queesy stomach. ugh.. well I havent had salmenolla (sp) but I recently have had to stop my enbrel due to uti's it's been 2 months since Ive taken any enbrel and so far Im doing about the same. I have some swelling in my wrists and I do seem more fatigued, but no generalized stiffness, in fact I feel okay enough not to take it. In the past I have been able to go without any meds for stills for about 4 months then it comes back. My sed rate is up though, and that could be from some increased inflammation from not taking the stills. It was 45 2 weeks ago. hard to tell if the sed rate relects the stills inflammation or possible the infections with my cervix and utis. The main thing to go on is your symptoms and not your sed rate, or bloodwork. If you feel horrible even with a normal sed rate have the doc get you back on the meds as soon as it is safe to do it. I do hope you start feeling better. Were they able to give you something for the nasuea like phenergan or compazine? and try to keep hydrated because when you dehydrate you tend to cycle back and continue throwing up because of the dehydration. so sometimes you need iv fluids to get the vomiting under control.
