Guest guest
Hello everyone, Tegan, who will turn 3 in May, is globally delayed and has a " severe " autism diagnosis. Tonight I came across something very unusual that she has never done before. She crawled past the computer room and started screaming hysterically...the first time I wasnt sure why. After " testing " to see if it was the screen saver on the computer, it is definately confirmed. The screensaver is black, with simple pink 3D wording that moves around the screen. Anyone know what this is about?? I have never had her react like this with anything. Thanks!!! Tara
Guest guest
Sounds like sensory sensitivity and/or dysfunction. You may want to have her evaluated by a OT/sensory specialist. She may be to young for a visual processing test...but definitely have an OT assessment with concentration on sensory. Guest guest
Has Tegan been tested for sensory issues? Ella is "hfa" and she has A LOT of sensory issues. Hopefully you can get your daughter some OT. Sometimes we can coax Ella to try something but we have to go SO very slow when we introduce things to her. She always hated grass, she will now tolerate it (sometimes)when she has shoes on. She always wants socks on, she shocked my husband and myself the other day at gymnastics she took them off and walked to the mat. After her class at dinner we told her we were proud of her, but she wanted her socks back on.....Sometimes things are not worth it and we will try to avoid certain things we know will set her off. For us it is a daily battle, Ella is easily set off especially by lights and sound. Does your daughter like sunglasses? Sometimes they help us.
