Wow, n, thanks so much for the heads-up.

I wondered why a person who was stranded in Scotland, would write to a Sprouting

message board. My goodness, the scams that people try to perpetrate on fellow

internet users boggles the mind.

At least we have our little bunch of sprouters who only try and help each other

STAY HEALTHY.

Hi.

I have more information on that Scotland scam. It is rampant. Some hacker emails

a person and pretends he is yahoo and he asks that person for their yahoo id.

People gave him their yahoo id. Then that person uses the id to get into their

yahoo account, seizes their email address book and sends out hundreds of emails

saying that the original user is stranded in scotland, (using verbatim the same

words, I was robbed at gunpoint, but I have my passport, etc), and if a person

responds, THEN they are asked for money. People probably did send money

(thinking they were sending money to their friend).

This actually happened to a politician whose yahoo account was hacked. He had

yahoo close his account.

This has been rampant.

The scams perpetrated on others is horrible.

And I am always getting emails from a Nigerian person telling me that they have

chosen to leave me millions of dollars, etc. etc, and they always put a

religious context to the emails. They are blessing me, using God's name to bless

me, and ask for my personal information.

I immediately delete their emails. I get at least one every single day.

I am scared to think of people who are quite gullible and respond to these

emails.

Reminds me of my 93 year old uncle, who when he was in his 80's called me up all

excited because he had won the lottery. I had said " what lottery " ? And he was

so excited because he won the Australian Lottery and he had been asked to send a

handling fee.

I immediately said " don't send any money, this is a scam " He said " what is a

scam " ? Well, I gently explained what was going on and he could not believe it.

He said " I have been waiting here every day for two weeks waiting for my money

to come " . It seems he had been sending HANDLING fees to anyone who send him

this type of mail request. Not email mind you, but actual snail mail indicating

that my Uncle had won some lottery.

My goodness!!

Happy New Year Melody,Glad to see you back online. Happy New Year.Hey a quick

question for you--what do you usually mix in with your broccoli sprouts? Is it

alfalfa? I would like to try to mix something with it that is not a strong taste

by itself, but with a nice more neutral taste. I was thinking alfalfa or

clover? I am in the midst of planning my week's sprouting--definitely broccoli,

lentils or mung beans a must, and then two containers of big and little sprouts

for the big and little birds. I am sure I'll start some cabbage and mustard

during the week too. Am going to the food coop ( Street Coop in New

Brunswick for those New Jerseyans out there) and am not sure if they have any

sprouting material, but will investigate. I am just craving broccoli sprouts

today!Hope everyone has a peace-filled day,nin overcast NJ and where the

snow is melting :)

Many years ago, I received a letter telling me that I had won a $35,000 first

prize and need to send $35 to purchase a money order so that the money could be

sent by mail. I wrote back and said take the $35 out of the $35,000 and send me

the balance. Never heard from them again.

Hi.

Happy to be back too. Don't know how long though. Verizon has been having

outages due to water getting in the cables, so my internet light goes red from

time to time, then it comes back. So when it's one, I'll be here and when it's

not on, I'll be in my kitchen doing my sprouting. Until the weather gets warmer,

whereupon I shall be out walking.

You ask what I mix my broccoli with? Oh, I always mix it with some radish (for

that kick), some alfalfa, for the mildness, some fenugreek (well, just for the

fenugreek, lol), and if I have some in the house, I'll use clover. I can sprout

red clover sprouts a mile away, they remind me of christmas icicles. They have

this shimmer to them. Haven't used them in a while, but I used to sprout them

all the time. But to save money, I spend my money more on broccoli sprouts than

anything else.

And last night I had made a bean sprout pattie. You MUST try this.

Take some harvested bean sprouts. No hulls.

In a bowl, mix some beaten egg, some chopped up onion, the bean sprouts (don't

break them up), and some bread crumbs.

Mix all together.

Heat some oil in a pan, and take your fingers and take some of the mixture and

just make little bunches in the hot frying pan.

They cook up on one side really fast. Nice and crisp, Turn over, and in a minute

they will be done. Drain on paper towels, and serve right away.

I did this on New Year's Eve when we went around the corner and I made my greek

yogurt dip.

Well, in five minutes, there were no more bean sprouts patties. They are not

actual patties but when they cook up , they resemble birds nests. All crispy.

And the onions give them a taste like french fried onion rings.

Oh my goodness, they were so good, my husband said " Make these again tomorrow

night " , so last night I did it again.

I had no yogurt in the house so he put applesauce on them.

No more left.

You have to try this. It's delicious.

Hi all of you!!

I had to show you how my bean sprouts came. These are the bean sprouts that I

made into my famous, now what shall I call them? Let's call them " Melody's Birds

Nest bean sprouts patties "

Here's what they looked like after they finished sprouting.

Next time I make a batch of birds nests, I'll video tape it and you can see how

nice they crisp up.

Melody,Thank you for sharing your broccoli mixes. Your bean sprout pancakes

sound delicious. I would make mine with an egg substitute (I'm a vegan). It is

such fun to turn other people on to healthier foods. I have a friend who wants

to come over and learn how to sprout and more about juicing.:) n

n,

I typed a longer reply but didn't save it and yahoo lost it.

I mix brocolli with clover. 50/50 is good and mellows the brocolli taste nicely.

You can throw in other stuff too such as mustard, radish and fenugreek.

Happy New Year to all,

Hi All

I'm making them again tonight. YOU KNOW, I'll make a mini-movie of the whole

thing. It will be about 35 to 40 seconds. First I'll show how I make the

mixture, then I'll cook them up, and you'll see my birds nests.

This is so cool To be able to share this stuff.

Hi Nicola,Thanks for the tip.  Broccoli and Clover sounds good to me.The food

coop I went to today had no sprouting supplies but did sell sprouts--old

broccoli sprouts, alfalfa, and a mixed pea/bean salad. They were unfortunately

not looking very fresh.I showed my husband and we just smiled. We will

fortunately have our own fresh broccoli and clover this week.:) nwho just

chugged some GT's kombucha and got a buzz
