Guest guest
That is my usual plight, but I had a different experience this week. My husband bought some homemade sourdough bread made from “49 year old starter”. I couldn’t resist it, and buttered up a piece, knowing I was going to suffer terrible consequences. To my great surprise, I only had a light increase in the amount of gas, and really no other bathroom issues. And yes, then I had to try it again, with the same results. A donut can put me into hours of misery… and I have had store bought sourdough bread… which resulted in misery. Anyone else have an experience with “sourdough” bread? From: DS_Friends_Keshishian [mailto:DS_Friends_Keshishian ] On Behalf Of snooks Yesterday Albertson's had their warm french bread just out when I got there. Like a dummy I bought some, went home buttered a piece up and ate it...Just goes to show I have never learned. I was in the bathroom from 1:30am until 4:30am with fluffy poop. Now my tummy had killed me today….. -- Pat
Guest guest
Pat Warm bread from Albertson's...ummmm...who could pass that up? I have heard from others that after redundant colon surgery they are even more sensitive to whatever issues they had before. Warm hot bread may have worked better if you downed a Steak with it! Guest guest
Elle I have heard from others that Sourdough is usually tolorated better than regular breads. I can imagine that your Aged Starter sourdough bread was helpful to someone highly sensitive to breads. I tolorate breads well..most of the time...but doughnuts can set me off to with gas. The combo of yeast, flour, fat and sugar is just too much at once. Guest guest
Hi: Luckily, I have no dietary restrictions, but then I’ve always been a dyed-in-the-wool carnivore – so the more protein, the better. Breads are not an issue – the one food that causes distress for me would be a (large) milkshake – too much dairy, I guess. A glass of chocolate milk could have similar gassy consequences, rumbling insides, etc. But, these are foods I can live without. I’m glad I can eat bread. I have some 100=year old sourdough starter that I use just for pancakes and waffles. No problems with either. Strange how this surgery has little twists and turns that are so different for each of us. Glad to hear you lucked out with the bread!
