Guest guest
Jan, I have never heard of nortriptyline, but Stan's big toes are sentitive when the covers on the bed lay on them a while. He complains of them hurting. Also the doctor just removed the toenail on his left big toe, it was infected. He has type 2 diabetes and we were afraid of him losing his toe. He was put on antibiotics for a week to get the infection down before removing it. lol, Pat Janet Colello wrote: Hi All, Have any of you heard of a medication called, Nortriptyline? Jim went to see his doctor today. He has been complaining of sore toes. They are very sensitive to touch. He will hardly let me clip his toenails, because his toes hurt when I touch them. The doctor thought it might be damaged nerve endings causing the pain. And said the Nortriptyline would deaden the pain for him and give him some comfort. She said it used to be an antipsychotic drug, but it is not used in that way anymore. The word antipsychotic sent up a red flag in my head, so I wanted to check if any of you had heard of it, before giving it a try for Jim. She is also having him take a lab test for pre diabetes and the results of a lab test for vitamin B12 are due to come back soon. She said a defeciency in the vitamin B 12 could also cause his toes to be sensitive. I am leaving on vacation for a week on Sunday, so I will be checking my e-mail while on vacation. Thanks.........Jan Colello __________________________________________________
Guest guest
I have been on nortripyyline also known as (generic) gabapentin. I now take 600 mg. three times a day. I was started on 200mg 3 times a day and it was gradually increased. I am taking it for a neuropathy in one foot. The only side effect I have noticed is sleepiness so I am careful not to take it if I have a long drive scheduled. I know it was developed for mental problems butdid not prove effective for that. I actually met one of the men who helped develop the drug. Guest guest
Pat, My Dad complains about the covers pushing down on his toes also. My husband built a frame out of pvc pipe that goes over his feet and keeps the covers from pushing down. Margee
