Guest guest
Hi Everyone! Thanks for welcoming me back to the group. I'm sure it will make a difference in my weight loss battle. Just got back from my WW meeting and I had gained 2 pounds after last week's 5.6 pound loss. While I was bummed, I was really glad I had attended the meeting. I felt so ashamed and out of control with my eating that I nearly considered skipping the meeting for this week. Unfortunately I'm a bit of a perfectionist and if I don't do things exactly right, I consider myself a failure and give up. Trying to get it through my thick skull that this is a lifestyle and not a diet hasn't been easy. However I have decided to try a new tactic. Instead of attending my meeting only on Sunday mornings, I will start attending a meeting each day as my schedule permits. I will even stay afterwards for the Getting Started sessions for extra support and encouragement. The tactic is similar to one my friend used in AA. For the first 90 days, she attended at least one and sometimes two meeting per day. It really helped her get over the hump when she first began to stop drinking and even now a year later she attends at least 3-4 meetings per week. I'm truly hoping that this will help me have more positive results in the future.BTW a couple of people commented that Weight Watchers isn't exactly DS friendly. That's the beauty of WW...you can eat EVERYTHING as long as you control the portions. Since I am a DSer, I tend to eat a higher amount of protein that a regular WW member. Nearly 11 years after my RNY, I still eat protein first but I don't worry about the carbs. Prior to having WLS, I had tried the Atkins/South Beach Diet and neither one clicked for me. Eating all that meat and butter literally made me sick to my stomach. I find I feel better if I eat at least 5-6 servings of fruits and vegetable every day, 3-4 servings of grains and limit my fat intake. Every since I had my gall bladder removed in 1996 I have been sensitive to fats and my revision to DS in 2003 only made things more interesting.
