Hi Sam and welcome

Has your dad ever been given Ativan or Haldol? Wish we had some wonderful

words of wisdom regarding behaviors. Nothing ever calmed my dad's

behaviours and agitation. I believe a lot of his behaviors and agitation

were as a result of him being given Ativan.

Needless to say, after living in a particular nursing home for 2 1/2 years,

he was " involuntarily discharged " because of his aggression, agitation and

behaviors.

I know there is a website available that gives information on NH's such as

number of beds, charges brought against them etc. If you want the address,

please write and we can look it up and let you know.

All the best to you and your dad

-- finding a new nursing home

I'm new to the group. My Dad has Lewy Body disease and a month and a

half ago we had to put him in a nursing home. However, they are now

kicking him out because a) he has been violent to staff and they are

worried he is a danger to the other residents and B) he gets up

continually during the night and they are worried he will fall and

hurt himself. They have tried using seroquel as well as depakote

with little beneficial effect. Does anyone have suggestions as look

for a new care facility on what type of thing we should look for

given my Dad's condition? My Mom and Dad live in Bellingham, WA, a

relatively small community so options are somewhat limited it

appears.

Also, I'd be curious if there's any hope he can change from his

current agitated condition--he's been like this for weeks. What are

the stages of Lewy Body disease? What can we expect for the future?

Thank you for any insights you have.

Sam
