Guest guest
Hi especially but others cann chime in. Questions. I blended all my veggie skins/scraps in vitamix, came out thick so added water to make it runny, has been sitting in sun on patio for 2 days with a lid on the glass jar. Wow, it sure made a lot for my 1/2 gallon jars. Not sure I can keep up with it all every day. Will it help my hanging pots of geraniums if I water them weekly with this liquid? Does it need to be more diluted? Anyway, after a few days do I understand you that I can pour it on my small plot of dirt and fork it in? I do not have a spot to place a compost pile/bin so not sure what will happen if I pour this liquid on the dirt. Will it attract flies/ants? How much veggie liquid is too much for my plot of ground that is about 10 feet by 3 foot wide? If I do this from time to time between now and fall, will this begin my nice dirt for planting next spring? I believe I'll take your suggestion of sticking with containers this season. Am so sorry I didn't pay more attention all these years to my mom and in the early years to my dad who wanted to teach me how to garden, but I literally hated every inch of it, didn't like to get " dirty " . Also, has anyone used their sprouts, say, broccoli to make a flatbread/cracker? Do you have a recipe? I just made some today with raw butternut squash, flax and chia seeds, dried tomatoes, chives, parsley and spices that are drying now. If you use the sprouts do you dehydrate first or mix them in the batter raw? Okay, guess this is it for my questions now. Am off to sprout some wehanie rice for the first time. Also have garbonzas, and lentils to sprout. Any advice on these from this illustrous group? Martha (from California where it still isn't warm enough yet to be spring.) Guest guest
Yes, Martha, you can put the brew on your bed gardens. One way to do this is to use a hose attachment with a container that holds the brew and adds water as it sprays. They are about 20 bucks in the gardening department of most major stores. I can't say from experience if it will help (or hurt) your geraniums-I only grow things I can eat, so have never tried it and have no idea what type of nutrients geraniums need.  Fruit and veggie plants are comprised of whatever nutrients are in the soil, so keeping the soil full of nutrient rich water is the best way to ensure that the veggies and fruits remain nutritious. Subject: Re: Re: composting To: sproutpeople Date: Friday, April 15, 2011, 10:17 PM  Hi especially but others cann chime in.
