Guest guest
, My prayers are with you while you are in Afghanastan, my hubby asked if you knew where you would be, if you are at Bagram then the conditions are much better there now than 2 years ago when they first got there. Were you able to go through Ranger School? Take care and if you like you can send your actual mailing address and my mom will send you things, she loves to do that for the deployed soldiers. Don't forget to take a stills brochure to stick in your med records, I know all the docs here on base really appreciated it because they were not familiar with stills, and if you have a flare direct them to the website if they have any questions on some symptoms that they may think are strange but to us we've found common with stills. Take care

Guest guest
Jen, Is there a form that we fill out for a personal profile? Or just write a little about ourselves?? I went into the "Search" thing and there was nothing about me so I thought that I'd like to have a little about myself in our file group. Thanks, Carmen
Guest guest
Hey Terry, yes I got it updated, it will still be a while before I can upload all the files to the site. I will let you know when, hopefully by Tuesday, I put your profile info in a seperate place than the history, I gave you your own page for that, so we can add the pics to that page. Guest guest
Did they help at the ER Kirk i hope soo,i hope when your done being looped-up you feel alot better take care man. d.Canada Update I am quite looped right now having spent about 5 hours in the ER for another ******** headache!! I had a tournament that lasted until 2:30 AM last night and was home just before 4:00 AM. I had a headache start on Friday night that seemed to go away Saturday night around 11:00 PM. I woke up this morning and couldn't move without my head feeling like it was gong to explode!!! I fought it off until about 5:00 tonight by taking my pills and applying every ice pack we have in our house, but it got to the point where I couldn't move at all due to the pain. My wife "made" me go to the ER. At least they were "nice" tonight and aside from a long wait, treated me without torturing me. Hope everyone has a good day, Kirk.Visit the Still's Disease Message Boardhttp://disc.server.com/Indices/148599.htmlThe materials and information contained in this message are not intended to replace the services of a trained health professional or to be a substitute for medical advice of physicians and/or other health care professionals. Guest guest
Hi kirk, Woe is you with those horrific headaches. What ever they gave you in the E.R. that worked, could you not have some at home so you could take it when needed? Would your doctor Rx it for you to keep "just in case"? I've had amazing headaches before Stills but nothing like you are experiencing. I can't even fathom the pain you are experiencing but it sounds terrible. I hope your "loop" medication stays with you for a while so you have a good feeling in your head for once. Mi. Carmen
Guest guest
Oh, Kirk, I wish you weren't so miserable. I absolutely love reading your posts as you describe all your pain and misery so well. You should be a writer !! Please don't take this as though I don't think you are not living a nightmare as I certainly do. It's just that you express yourself so vividly......hitting yourself over the head with an ice bag"? And hard !! I'd be ranting and raving if I were you also !!! Now......what do you think about the suggestion of the "nerve block" injection? That sounded like something you might want to look into. Wouldn't it be heaven if you were to find some relief and quick? I think you are keeping yourself in check with all your health issues at the moment. I know that if my son had your miseries, he would have long ago taken the Louisville Slugger to all his doctors ! I sure hope you can make at least one day of the Philly conf. Oh....did you ever get ADOC? Mi. Carmen
Guest guest
What you write about Carmen is one of the things that has me hotter than hell with my doctors!!! No one seems to want to address these headaches, at least not from the giving me something that might work aspect as a prescription!!! They prefer I go to the ER. As I told my PCP this morning if I went there for every bad headache I have had I would damn near live there!!! The one I had yesterday was "extra special" in that the first two shots of Dilaudid did little for it. The third was the charm, and I was released shortly thereafter. I had a guy in the next "stall" who was a beauty. He was in for Pancreatitis. His Dr asked him why he told the ER that he was his Dr. He asked the guy "Didn't we throw you out of our practice two months ago?". He than asked what the guy's pain meds were.....he had OxyContin 5, 10 & 20's, Percocet, Vicodin Etc........He was asked if he was still drinking, he said no. He was then asked if he is still doing drugs and warned that they were going to do a drug screening...he said he smoked some pot, snorted some Coke and said something else I couldn't quite make out. This pisses me off, as I have been "Mr. Clean" all of my life and none of my Dr's wants to deal with the pain issues and a skank like this has everything under the sun that he probably pawns off to get more nose candy!!! I swear I am going to snap, and when I do it won't be pretty. I also found out I have another mystery throat infection, and it looks like my left ear is a bit infected. My left ear has been giving me problems for about three years now. I need to see the pain management Dr again, but never remember to make the appointment, primarily because I am losing belief that anyone is going to help me. I have my fingers crossed hard that this Dr in Philly has an answer. If he doesn't, I am bringing out Mr. Louisville Slugger, and putting him to good use. My PCP tripled my dosage on my anti depressant after I told him about my frustration and my strong sense that I am going to snap at any moment. I am also back up to 40 mg/day of Prednisone. He was surprised to hear that I take the Butalbital every four hours and that it won't help with the headaches. I told him the Vicodin ES is great for the joint pains, but damn near useless on the headaches. He asked if I wanted to see another Neurologist, and after seeing two, have no strong desire to waste my time any more. If they couldn't figure out anything after 3 MRI's & 2 MRE's & 2 CT scans, than they aren't going to help me now. They each insist they are migraines, yet all of the migraine meds that have been tried have struck out, including the one that set me back in the hospital by making me sick and sending my fever back through the roof. My Rheumy was also paid a visit today, and I left there with a ton of unanswered questions, which has also "fueled" my desire to have someone come at me. He told me I may as well stop taking the Verapimil as it apparently is not working, and I should have thanked him as I just had the damn script refilled and paid my co pay on Friday. He also told me to knock off the Enbrel for a week as my throat doesn't look too good. He also told me not to make another appointment until I get back from Philly. WTF??? Sorry for the rant, but I need it! Re: Update Hi kirk, Woe is you with those horrific headaches. Guest guest
Kirk, and anyone else interested I few years ago I found one of the biggest triggers for my headaches(migraines) was MSG and any natural additives, preservatives in food. Especially processed foods like hot dogs, lunch meats and many of the boxed dinners. Since i cut a good number of those out of my diet I have found the headaches have decreased tremendously. I found out the MSG thing the hard way beyond all else. I ate a hot dog and within a half hour I was taken the hospital in ambulance screaming "DONT TOUCH ME". and the doc said there is your culprit. Believe it or not MSG is in the US under 5 different names legally and it is in even JELLO. WOW! I bout flipped a lid when I found that out. Below is the link to the MSG websites started by a guy who suffered for years.....Hidden names of MSG : http://www.msgmyth.com/The other MSG site:http://migraineweb.com/page2.htmlHope this helps along with the B2 at 400mg a day. Made all the difference in the world since i can't have any of the normal abortives for Migraines anymore. Gotta love the Heart problems they tend to mess up the treatment process pretty well. Guest guest
Thanks for the info Tracilyn. I do eat Chinese food, as my kids love it, and there are a ton of Chinese Buffets around here. I don't think MSG is my cause, as the big "buzzword" at all of these places is "No MSG's" posted on the doors when you walk in. As an FYI about msg.... The local tv's did an expo about msg and the "No MSG" postings. While it is true that they probably don't add msg, a lot of the stock purchased food that's premade has msg in it already, like if they purchase pre-made egg rolls, ribs, etc. I was surprised and shocked when I heard that as hubby can't do msg either. Guest guest
Hi Liz, I have spoken to my Rd about the steroids. And I am now weaning down at a slower pace. It does seem to help. I am still tired but not as tired. And my aches seem to have disapated, for now. Thanks for thinking about me. I hope all is well with you. I'm sorry we never did get a chance to get together. I have just had a rough go at it this summer. I will see you hopefully at the Philly conference...?? If not, I would love to make plans to have lunch together or even just meet at the park with our children. Love, Carey

I don't think MSG is my cause, as the big "buzzword" at all of these places is "No MSG's" posted on the doors when you walk in. I also have had these too frequently for that to be the issue, but I will look into it. I usually eat cereal, as I have to rush home from work, change my clothes, eat something quick and than drive my oldest son almost 6 miles to football practice. The SOB who made the practice start at 5:30 obviously doesn't work a "normal" job, and is certainly not self employed. I do eat hot dogs, but rarely. The lunch meat I have been eating lately is usually turkey, as that is supposed to be good for the cholesterol. I eat a 6" sub for lunch every day, or have a bowl of soup, depending on my mood. I rarely eat junk food anymore, aside from the sticky buns I eat for breakfast so I can take my handful of pills and not torch my stomach. I have yet to have a nasty headache this week, so that is a good thing. My last bad one was Saturday (really nasty) and that was totally gone by Monday afternoon. I think the "lack" of many headaches may have to do with the jacked up dosage of Prednisone, as the last time it was jacked up, the headaches decreased also. I have to taper down to 30 on Saturday, and than await instructions from my PCP which will probably be influenced by the swelling in my throat. I can't wait to get back down to 20 mg.day, as I can't stop thinking about food and I am really wound up tight. I keep wishing someone, anyone would "step on my toes" to "ease" my mood, but I have had no such luck. Watch, I thought about having no major headaches this week and I will probably get whacked immediately! That is my luck, but I hope not. Guest guest
Hi everyone, First off thanks for all the messages, phone calls and flowers. Maree the flowers you sent couldnt have arrived at a better time. I was feeling very sorry for myself sitting in my room having a little cry, you cant imagine the difference it made - Thank you. Anyway, from the beginning. I arrived at the hospital at 6.30am and was notified that it would be about 9am when I went in. I was taken down and drawn on and my surgeon ended up lipoing the back of my upper arms, my back fat and flanks. I had a breast lift without implants and an extended tummy tuck with aggresive muscle repair. I woke up in the most pain I have ever been in my life. I had a pain pump and was told to use that when needed. I pushed it constantly the first night. It is all pretty much a blur. The next day I asked for the pain pump to be taken off as it was sending me loopy...I hate that feeling...so they took that off and put me on digesics. They got me up out of bed which was like OMG, I actually cried it hurt so much. After getting up I felt so much better and that was the beginning of it. I showered and started walking bit by bit. Day 3 they came and took my drains out, some say it doesnt hurt some say it does. I say OMG I nearly passed out. Good thing is that the pain only lasts for a few seconds then stops...but that few seconds is like agony. Once my drains were out they couldnt keep me down. I stopped taking the pain meds through the day and walked as much as I could. I wanted to be ready when I left hospital and not be so useless. I had and still have alot of sweeling from the lipo and I have a garment covering my arms, then another one that covers from boobs to upper thighs. It is really tight and is uncomfortable at times but when I take it off to shower it feels weird, so at the moment I prefer it on. Since getting out of hospital I have had a run in with the toilet and constipation like you have never heard off, I actually passed out in pain and thought I was going to die. As for my results I am really happy so far. I still have huge swelling so cant see the actual results properly yet, but seeing my boobs on my chest with nipples pointing up and a tummy that doesnt cover my pinny and thighs is an amazing feeling for me. I have never had this in my whole life and it I tell ya is worth everything I have and am going through with the recovery. Pain - I say 9/10 the first day - then 3/10 after that. I dont feel pain my boobs just discomfort actually like when your milk comes in when you breastfeed, that is the exact feeling. I have no pain in the TT insicion just in the upper abs where they did the MR, and that feels like you have done 1000000000 sit ups. I do have pain from the lipo, which has been the worst of it all, so if you have the op done without it I really dont think for me it would have been painful much at all. The lipo feels like I have been kicked and beaten for hours and my body is covered in bruises...which it is. They took 3.5kgs off my belly and 3. something kgs off in lipo. At the moment though I currently weigh heavier than the day I went into hospital form the swelling. Anyway thats all for now, I am going to try and work out how to show you the pics as I am feeling paranoid about posting them for the world to see. Ill think of something really soon. Guest guest
G'day Kel, How good is this, you writing to us all. I am soooooooo happy for you that it is over, how I wish I had your courage. It all sounds manageable although as painful as I expected. The results sound soooooo worth it all though. This is wonderful news and again I am so happy for you and proud of you. How good does your future look?? OMG, I am so excited for you. Look after number one now, don't go over doing it. That will be hard with a big family but don't jeopardise any part of this. I am so happy for you, love, Maree
