Guest guest
BRAVO COURAGE My Dad was in a rehab that ignored him and he came home with body lice. The place was inspected by the authorities and now has new people running it. Hugs to you and sissy Jacqui
Guest guest
they better not charge you transfer fees, they deserve to pay them and not have your mom billed for the few days she was there, if they were any sortof caregivers this move wouldnt be necessary now would it,. keep you chin up, we are all in your corner, sharon a smile a day keeps the meanies away!!! Guest guest
Bravo Courage: You are absolutely doing the right thing. You shouldn't have to work harder once your loved one is in a nh. At least, you may have to work harder initially to get him or her used to it but what you were saying was happening there was a gross injustice! How can that even be happening or how can they even hope to justify waiting for a diaper to turn orange before they really have to change it. YUCK!!! How cruel!! Good for you. I hope the wait for your first choice isn't too long. Hey listen, will they still let you be on that waiting list since you refused another one? They made an exception for my dad but that's largely because the doctors at St. Mike's pushed social services for us. Let me know. If all else fails, complain your head off!!! All good things my Toronto friend, Abby
Guest guest
Courage, What a good idea. I wish I had done the same thing. Let me caution you. Do not let her records be sent. Get them and take them yourself. The NHs here tend to send negitive reports if they are left in the dust. A friend of mine moved her Mom after Mom died and found the new nh had lots of lousy info. I do not know how you could, as you have been there such a short time. But I found out the hospital I moved Mom out of into the nh had all sorts of junk in it. Good luck. Guest guest
Hi Sharon, My sister did call a few places this morning and one of them (sorry can't remember their names cause my brain is mush right now) said that they will be making a surprise trip to this nursing home. Hopefully mom will be out of it by then. What they do is pick 4 residents (with my mom being one of the " random " choices " and check all their files and snoop around. We just felt we had to so something for all the residents we are leaving behind. There are two women in my moms room who are nearing the end of AD and these poor women don't get a thing to drink from 5:00 dinner till the next day at breakfast - surely this can't be right. My sister is a lawyer and we call her the Little General (she's short) and I made her promise me before she wen't in to speak to administration that she not kill anyone! Thank fully it went well and the NH isn't going to charge us any fees for the move which if they really wanted to get nasty about they could. Guest guest
Courage, Grrrrrr! Report them! It is places l;ike these that give good nursing homes a Bad Rep and quite often it is just a single lazy worker that should not be in that line of work anyway. I am so sorry you had to have this experience it sickens me to hear such horrer stories and yet know that there this stuff still happens in some places. I wish you better care in the next place....Hugs...Patti > Hi All, > > My sister and I have decided to take mom out of the Maynard Nursing Home. What an awful place. Our experience there has not been good and we hope to have mom transfered to another home by the end of the week. Mom is now 83 on the list for our first choice LTC facility so we're hoping that this new place will be good enough to keep her there till we get the call for the place we want. > I can't tell you how exhausted I am. I'm there all afternoon and evening. Yesterday I asked them for a diaper to change my mom and they said they'd do it (a first). They came back to with " I didn't change your mom's diaper because it's not we enough yet " ...What!!!!!!!!!! > I feel so much better that she's getting out of there. Mom has been such a trooper about it all. I don't dare leave her there alone. > Courage > > Please follow this link to learn more about Lewy Body Dementia > http://www.lewybodydementia.org > > >
Guest guest
Hello Sharon and Courage, They are regulated by the Division of Aging and this kind of misconduct should not be allowed to continue to anyone. It is pure negect and is illegal to do this sort of thing. It needs to be brought to their attention and the matter corrected or the NH closed. Again I am soo sorry this thing still happens and I give you a big round of appluse for recognizing there were things not right and acted upon it, Courage. Hugs...Patti > courage, i am sooo sorry that you have such a mess at the nursing home, > maybe when you get olivia transferred you need to contact someone in authority > that regulates nursing homes who ever that might be or even a nosy television > station taht will investigate tehmselves and go public, > sharon m > > a smile a day keeps the meanies away!!! > > >
