Guest guest
Hi Carey, I'm B. and I was put on Humira about 2 months ago. It seems to be working wonders. It is a TNF blocker. I think she put me on it because my Liver count was going up and I was suffering from mouth sores due to MTX. Anyway, I " ve been able to stop MTX and I'm down to 4mg of pred. I still take celebrex and numerous other things but I'm feeling better and able to do more. The only bad thing is the shot hurts when injected, but to me its worth it. Anyway, that's my outlook on it. Hope all is well with you, B
Guest guest
OK ...So is it kind of like Enbrel. where you give yourself shots? Enbrel is a TNF blocker also. So its another type of med like Remicade or Enbrel.....If you dont mind me asking.....Is it as expensive? My insurance wouldnt pay for Enbrel but is paying for Remicade....go figure. Thanks Carey
Guest guest
Through my insurance Enbrel is $1700 and I have to pay 25%. BUT...and it's a BIG BUT....I also have mail order for maintenance meds and I am actually getting 3 months, yep, you heard it right, 3 months of Enbrel for $25! For once the insurance company did something right. Geez...of course, i had to go through crap to get it covered and they are only covering 4 months and then a re- evaluation. Los Angeles > Drug costs for BRMs if bought through DrugStore.com are as follows > (Your costs may vary, probably will, most likely costing more.) > > Humira for 4 weeks : $1216.72 > Kinieret for 28 days : $1105.97 (mine is $1203.00) > Enbrel for 8 twice weekly shots (4 weeks) : $1169.99 > Remicade is charged by the vial and delivered by a trained professional so I am not able to get the fees for that. > > One thing to remember, Remicade may be covered because it's infused by IV by a professional. IF that's the only drug the insurance will cover for now, be glad you at least have that option. If you fail Remicade and maybe you won't, they most likely will allow you to move to the next BRM therapy suggested without a problem. One step at a time, okay??? LOL Like we need any more stress. > > Smiles, Caroline >
Guest guest
Hi Carey, My insurance paid for humira, I'll have to ask the pharmacy about the cost. I get a shot every two weeks. Not pleasant, but I have a great husband. B
