To: CFreemir@...CC: JGagne@...; MAshmore@...; ameyer@...Subject: Georgia Special Needs Scholarship Program for 2008-09 School yearFrom: CFreemir@...Date: Thu, 1 May 2008 11:13:32 -0400 Georgia Special Needs Scholarship Program Parents Re-Enrolling in ProgramIMPORTANT: This is an attempt to summarize important requirements related to the Georgia Special Needs Scholarship Program (GSNS). This page is only a guide. The provisions written in GSNS law and rule take precedence. Parent/guardian is responsible for enrolling their children in an approved private school The initial list of approved private schools for the 2008 – 2009 school year will be posted on the GSNS website in late February and will be updated monthly through July. The scholarship amount you received for your child will not change. You will receive the same scholarship amount for the 2008 – 2009 school year as you did for 07-08. You will not be able to go to the website and recalculate your child's scholarship amount. If you are re-enrolling your child at the same private school he/she attended during the 2007-2008 school year, simply follow the procedures at the private school for re-enrollment. If you are enrolling your child at a new private school, you will need to contact each school directly to learn about their application process. You are required to provide the private school with a copy of the Scholarship Eligibility and Award sheet for your child. Follow up with the private school to ensure they have enrolled and submitted your child as a GSNS student to GaDOE. If a school fails to report a GSNS student to GaDOE, a scholarship payment for the student will not be issued. In order to be eligible to receive the scholarship for the 2008 – 2009 school year, a student must be enrolled and in attendance in an approved private school by September 5, 2008, no exceptions. Please contact our office if you have any questions. Thank you.
