Guest guest
Like any medication it has possible side effects and risk. You as the parent have to weigh those facts and decide if the risk is worth it or not. fever, stiff muscles, confusion, sweating, fast or uneven heartbeats, weight gain, hyperglycemia, breast development, or discharge. To name a few. I would get with the MD and discuss the options. For my daughter it really made a huge difference the first few months. Now we are at a point that it's not really making all that much difference but we don't really want to increase the dose due to problems it can cause with the heart since she has congenital heart defects. Hope this helps some. I have hearing a lot of bad things lately about how you should not put kids on Rispidone. Does anybody Know anything about Rispidone or why you should not put your child on it? Guest guest
My son is on it too and it's been tremendously helpful in his behavior. He has to get bloodwork done every six months and see a pediatric endocrinologist. Guest guest
My son has been on this for about nine months. I have no idea where we would be without this med. There is a good chance my son would be hospitalized. He is no longer violent, aggressive, or miserable. He was a danger to himself and my other children. His quality of life has improved drastically. He has not had any blood draws though. None of his doctors have even brought this up. What are the blood draws for? What specifically are they checking for? Should I request them? I went to the rispidone website and couldn't find anything about blood draws on there either. Thanks, Amiee To: autism-aspergers Sent: Thursday, October 13, 2011 9:18 AMSubject: Re: Rispidone My son is on it too and it's been tremendously helpful in his behavior. Guest guest
My older son takes Rispidone. It does wonders. Doctors do make him take blood test also. So far so good.
Guest guest
They should do lipid panels, and check their blood glucose fasting. It can raise cholesterol levels and blood glucose. I would ask for the testing to be done!sara Subject: RispidoneTo: autism-aspergers Date: Wednesday, October 12, 2011, 1:17 PM My son has been on Rispidone for about 5 yrs now it used to be 0.25 but now is up to 1mg twice a day.
