Guest guest
Hi Maree, This must be so disappointing for you, not to mention how incredibly stressful. I'm sorry to hear your meds have come back. Know that my thoughts are with you. And yes, every dog has its day ... karma will bite them in the bum. Guest guest
Bev, my GP said sometimes you have to look at things from 'their' point of view and went on to say since he turned 65 (I didn't know he had) he is no longer permitted to work from the hospital and his insurance premiums have risen so dramatically that he will close down within three years because it will no longer be a viable business. He went on that 'we' are reaching an age where 'we' do make mistakes. I reminded him of my age, 56, and said I thought I had another good 3-5 years at least that I could contribute. His, 'that's life' attitude did not help my hypertension. I know we all tend to look down on the elderly and disrespectfully brush them aside too often, we are all guilty to some degree, but when it happens to you at 56 with the knowledge it will only get worse it is so demeaning, insulting and scary. Even if we get impatient with them crossing the road too slow, or repeating themselves too often, they were us not too long ago and if we are lucky we will be them. It is such a hard fact to digest but it seems in our society even human life has a use by date. I had never considered this could happen to me, I don't feel old and am starting to look younger and thinner too thanks to my band. What a wake up call. M. Guest guest
Hi Maree I am shocked that it is a council treating you in this matter, if a council or government can get away with this type of treatment then what hope do any of us have? I had assumed you worked for a private organisation and they were trying to take advantage of the new Industrial Relation laws not a council. Are you in a union? Do you have so called friends at this work, or are you saying that people who you thought you had built friendships with haven't even contacted you let alone management? There is an old saying that when you are in need, sick etc you find out how who your true friends are. I'm so sorry to hear you have had to increase your medication and I know words of wisdom like hang in there, think positively just ring loose in times as stressful as this but do try and take special care of yourself during this difficult time. If you are not already on anti-depressants I suggest you consider doing so to help get you through this. Leanne
