Guest guest
We have tried abilify and geodon....both of these make him more manic..he is like bouncing off the walls and non stop repeating and so loud. I mentioned zyprexa.....but the medication doctor thought the zyprexa would be worse than the other two. He wanted to start on a low dose of Haldol....this we did tonight. If like the other 2 meds.....in like a week he will be more anxious and manic. Guess we will see.....seems like most medications work the opposite on him. Guest guest
Deb, We have tried albilify too. J is loud and bounces off the wall too. He can go from that to being quiet. From one extreme to another. J has a peradoxal effect to meds too. Lois Re: New Question
Guest guest
My sons behaviors occur mostly if the car wont start.....the grocery store scanner cant scan an item....in his world everything has to work right the first time. And it call be hell....if pizza hut says we are out of cheese breadsticks....they are pizza hut....they are never supposed to run out of breadsticks. Everything is black and white in his world....and the world just dont work this way. His way of releasing his fustration....is to hit and call names. We have tried so many different technics....social storys etc.... But when a situation arises....he forgets it all. Deblois noland wrote: Deb, We have tried albilify too. Guest guest
I so believe in the pressure. But I realize this after the behavior happens. I need to pay attention about this before the behavior happens to be prepared. children with autism are very susceptible to migraines especially during the change of seasons. Some people also believe that Barometric pressure effect them more heavily than most. Check the weather report for the day that the incident occurred. If you in a mountainous area the effects can be even worse. Head aches or migraines due to external pressure are hard to stop. A dark room and sensory integration using joint compression sometimes works. Re:JJ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now. Guest guest
Have you tried sensory deprivation? (Provide an area or objects that block out sounds and situations that may be upsetting to him) Re: New Question Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Mobile. Try it now. Guest guest
Troy....also with his OCD....I think he is always looking for things to go wrong. He will watch a certain situation....like the neighbor in his back yard.....like he is watching that neighbor because he knows at sometime that neighbor may try to start his mower or do something that he knows will make him mad. And it is so hard to get him back in the house if he thinks there is something that might happen. He needs so much help with his OCD but so far no luck with those meds...they make him more OCD. Guest guest
How structured is his day? Does he have a set schedule that he follows or is his day "free form"? With most who have obsessive compulsive tendencies, a good solid set schedule helps and any changes to that schedule should be explained in advance. I have also noticed that most individuals with autism have a somewhat morbid personality also. Meaning, I have seen them laugh themselves to tears over a vehicle accident. This may be what your son experiences but it may produce a different emotion. I would need more time to get more specific for your son. Most of the information I am providing is general and will always need fine tuned to accommodate each individual correctly. Guest guest
My son is very aggressive and it is mostly to me and my oldest daughter. How do you do these pressures and how soon before he starts to hit, push etc do you do it? I would love to know. Thanks so much. Stacie B Aurora IL I so believe in the pressure. Guest guest
On Sunday I have a wild foods meeting, which includes something to eat for lunch (pot luck) - the only sprouts I have " hanging out " are mung bean sprouts (maybe a little old) - the Hot2 mix - and fenugreek. Anyone have any suggestions of what to take? LOL, we've had a massive CME/X Flare out of sunspot cycle 24, due to hit the US sometime later today, and the weather channel says rain with snow. I've got bright sunshine and 44 degrees at 2:21pm. Pam
Guest guest
I would suggest spring rolls or maybe an Asian salad? Guest guest
What about a soup that you can serve with the sprouts? My favorite is a simple sweet potato/kale soup in vegetable stock that is garnished with a handful of sprouts and and whatever herbs I have on hand. I either puree the soup or leave chunks. Good either way and very simple. Mung and fenugreek sprouts go great in the soup. marion

Guest guest
I LOVE sweet potatoe/kale soup, or any of the sweeter winter squashes. Thanks for the suggestion.
