Guest guest
My Mother has had thin skin on her forearms and hands for many years. The least knock and she will have this red bruise just under her skin. It is not like a real bruise in that it doesn't change colors, it just fades away. Her skin also tears easily. The rest of her body is OK, it is just her arms from the elbow down. I'm not sure it has anything to do with LBD. It may just be old age. in Dallas > has anyone noticed that their LBD person has developed thinning skin > membrane?? Guest guest
My mothers skin is very thin. If she bangs into a doorway she ends up with a big purple mark or the skin tears. She doesn't have the problem on her head that I have noticed but she has thick bushy hair so I don't think it is the same. Guest guest
My mom takes blood thinners besides meds for LBD. Her nuerologist took her off asprin because that was causing bruising and her skin is also very thin. You couldn't touch her w/o causing a black and blue mark. Is you dad on a thinner and taking asprin? If so maybe you need to talk to md about it. Hugs and prayers Jacqui
Guest guest
I didn't notice any thinning skin membrane, however, my dad had patches of dry spots, on his face...that would actually dry up, seemed to be a sort of redish, dry area. I do remember others in the group, well, atleast in the past, this same thing happened to their loved ones. This disease has so > many twists and turns. My mum has very thin skin also, tissue paper like. However, she is on 4 steroidal " puffers " 3 times a day for her lungs and the doctors have always claimed that is what makes her skin so thin. Once, when she was not keeping up with her puffers, all the purple bruising went away. When she started back on them, a mere touch would make her bruise and the skin would tear. So I think in her case it would seem to be the puffers, as she was on them for quite some time before she was diagnosed with LBD. But I would be very interested to find out more about this. Good luck with your dad. .
Guest guest
HI, I've noticed that my mom's hair is much thinner now. Mom's skin doesn't seem thinner but it sure bruises easier. Guest guest
Unfortunately both of these symptoms come with age. The hair thinning is male pattern baldness. It is passed down through the female to children. It does occur in women also. Bruising skin also occurs as one ages. If I scratch somethi8ng I could end up with a nasty dark red bruise.
