Guest guest
Hey Roch Yeah, that is pretty scary isn't it Roch. It will put plenty of pressure on you in the future for human trials. You wonder how such a reaction could have happened; they would have tested it extensively prior to it being given to humans. When I was in the UK it was an option for money if you were a poor traveller to do a trial and get some lolly - so pleased I never went down that route! Guest guest
Nic, Very scary. Makes you very reluctant to volunteer for any trial. What the drug was targeting wouldn't produce such an effect. Personally I think it was a manufacturing problem. To get such a systemic reaction there was an endotoxin in it or something. We'd like to get into human trials for some of our work but its really hard. I'm trying to convince my boss to use us as guinea pigs, lets see if we can do what we think we can in us before we try for anything large scale. There are 8 of us here to use..plenty to know if its possible. Thankfully its not ingesting or injecting anything. Just draw some blood and go from there. Its much easier than trying to get approval to get blood from the blood bank. And its not like bleeding for the lab is a new thing. I had someone take blood from me this morning for one of my experiments. I've even taken my own in desperation. The others thought I was weird but they wouldnt' let me stick the needle in them, and they wouldnt stick it in me, so I stuck it in myself. hmmmmmmm gone a little off topic. Guest guest
I fully understand you desperation, I was tempted (half seriously) to learn how to give myself a fill because waiting for an appointment takes forever and I can't see the sense in waiting. I would perhaps have to feel way more confident to give myself a needle, but you know needs must! Nx
Guest guest
Nic, I've had the same thought. Giving myself a fill would be so easy. But having been through it, finding a vein in my arm is seems alot easier than finding the port. Ginving myself a needle clearly isnt an issue for me. I'd give myself sutrues if a cut was on my leg or something. We have all the stuff here at work. And I'd prefer my nice neat sutures to some I've had from the ones that call themselves doctors. A few years beack I had to tell a GP where to put the sutures in my finger because he had no idea. Its suprising I'm not a junkie considering my tendency toward addiction and no problem sticking needles in my veins. Kisses Rochelle
Guest guest
Okay, so no pirate themed fancy dress parties, Roch will be the one with the authentic stitches in her face. I am totally with you on the addiction thing - anything I like I become 100% devoted too. So is the lot of us obese, what we do we do too well!
