hi Joan,

I guess I'll answer your questions in somewhat random form-sorry.

Mom sees a primary care physician only now. She has diabetes 2,

hypertension, and macular degeneration. Her internist was okay, but

the staff so rude that we dropped them. Since there is no cure for

lbd, we are exercising her wishes ( per a living will) to keep her

comfortable and safe. I really feel like with the neurologist

etc " what is the point? " The primary doc deals mostly with the

elderly, and he was the one who told us lbd. He prescribes for her

and monitors her. I feel comfortable withthe arrangement at this

time.

Mom also sees lots of stuff on the floor...she can spot a dot of

lint a mile away, but cannot interpret something we pass in the

car..mistaking rocks for dogs, and such. She is much less inhibited

than she ever was..always such a lady, never swore, very prudish and

now...hmmm. She makes occasional off color comments and jokes that

are sometimes funny, sometimes embarrassing. Your'e right to get

your moms med levels checked, but it could just be that lack of

inhibition that comes when the mind breaks down. At mom's nh there

is one lady who always walks around swearing and saying " shut up "

very angrily. Oftimes, she is sitting seperatly where fewer people

are bothered by her, and then when she does join in, she seems to

have gotten it out of her system.

Hope this helps. By the way, the rude staff of the internist

actually said this when I asked for a copy of moms inusrance info

which I could not find during her move from her condo to my house. I

explained that she had AlZ and we could not find it,so sould we be

faxed a copy and she said " I don't understand why some people are so

IRRESPONSIBLE! " As if an alzheimers patient had chosen to forget and

mislay things. UNBELIEVABLE.

Bless you, Leigh
