Is it possible to put together an LBD meeting maybe in Atlanta or maybe one

of the other southern states?

I have read about the gathering last year and thought how wonderful it would

be to be able to look face to face with others who are going thur or have been

thru what I am facing now.

Thanks

I'm all for a regional meeting. I live in South Fl. In fact I am meeting 2

other members for lunch on the 15th in the Sawgrass Mills area. Very large

shopping area.

Atlanta is fine with me. Can't go until after August. Brother is

vacationing in Hawaii and I have no one else to tend to Mom until then.

Jayn, I'm more than willing to meet with anyone who can make it as far

as Atlanta. I can certainly make Atlanta, easily.

Maybe we *should* consider regional meets, as much as we'd all

probably love to attend global ones. I don't know. I do believe that

we would all be strengthened by personal contact with group members.

There are several of us in the SE US. Let's think about a regional

meet, seriously. Not one that's meant to diminish the LBDcaregivers

worldwide group, of course, but one meant to fortify our geographic

region's participation in the LBDA.

Jayn, Peggy, (if possible, I hope, I hope!) Sharon Smiles, and *all*

others in the SE US, what do you say? Is Atlanta a good place for you?

*Anyone* else in either caregivers group, anywhere in the world, would

be *more* than welcomed, of course, if you could make it to Atlanta or

some other " central " location.

Anyone who's interested in attending a SE/US meet, please throw up a

hand. I don't know about Jayn, but I'll need at least some

weeks/months to clear my calendar, since I work full time.

Good idea, Jayn! Nah, *great* idea!

Hi, Deborah,

Just wanted you to know that I think you and Jayn have a great idea for

regional get togethers. I am in Louisiana, so not too far away. However, I

cannot leave my dad to go out of town at this point. I would be glad to help

anyway I can. I probably will have to wait to attend a future gathering after

dad

passes, but it is a super great idea. I look forward to meeting as many of us

as possible as soon as possible.

Big hugs,

Piper

Hi, Deborah,

Thanks for your encouragement. I look forward to meeting you, too. My dad

is at home with me. We are going to stay the course at home unless he needs

some kind of critical care that I cannot give him. Getting off our routine is

horrible for my dad. If I put him in any kind of respite care, he would think

I had abandoned him. It is a wonderful idea though. I have other family

members here, but Dad gets all whacked out when I am not near. I know one day

when Dad has finished his journey, we can meet. I will hate to loose Dad, but

having my freedom back will be the positive side of it. Thanks for posting!

Sending hugs your way,

Piper

Hello, Piper,

I really do understand about not being able to get away. Have you

thought about checking for respite facilities near you? There's (at

least) one rehab facility in our area that will take patients for

caregiver respite -- a couple of nights up to a week or two. Maybe

that would work for you, too? Hey, suddenly I can't remember if your

dad is at home or in a facility, already.

It would be fantastic to meet you in person, so I'm trying to convince

you to come. Had you noticed? ;-) The more the merrier, even those

who'll need to fly in. I've scoped out several places today that look

fairly promising, near the airport.
