Guest guest
Hi folks A couple days ago I went to a free community bone density scanning. It was easy. I just walked in and 20 min. later I was placing my heal on a machine that measured bone density. It was completely painless and only took about a minute to get the results. My results were a T-Score of -2.5 and my Z-score of -2.4. Basically that means that I'm right on the cusp between advanced Osteopenia and Osteoporosis. Not good. My last labs taken around Feb showed my PTH and Vitamin D to be normal. I have been deligent in taking my supplements. Darn good thing or I could be worse. I need to get into my Primary and as I'm probably a candidate for Actonel or Boniva. Plus a more advanced bone scan. My advice to all of you is to get a bone scan so you have a baseline. I have intended to do this for ages...but I just haven't been to the doctor in ages so I never got around to it (besides Dr. K for my yearly and labs looked good). Something to keep in mind. Just the simple fact that we have lost weight means we stress our bones less and we can lose density. Weight bearing exercise will help to counter this. Hugs from me and my thinning bones.
