I know exactly what you are going through, I exercise quite a bit but ask me

how I keep losing and gaining the same 5-7 lbs. I sabotage all of my hard

work by eating terribly. I have a TERRIBLE sweet tooth, but not only that ,

sweets are trigger foods for me, once I eat something really sugar-filled I

complete spiral downward for the rest of the day and eat everything bad from

then on. *sigh* It's very discouraging and it's very unfortunate but I have

to, just as you do, get a handle on this. :) I continue to work out so that

when I do get things together I will really soar. :) That's what I'm hoping

for! I wish you much luck, you can get past the constant cravings.... or at

least satisfy those cravings with a single serving of something delicious. :)

Hi !

I started out doing Tae-Bo three times a week and saw great results! For the

first four or five months I did the basic tapes 3 to 4 times a week. Right

now I do Tae-Bo...no times a week! AUGH! I can't believe I just admitted

that! I just joined a new gym and I am still on that gym high. I am sure once

the gym starts to get old, I'll be back to Tae-Bo. Here is my current

schedule: M, W, F - 30 to 45 minutes of cardio (usually the elliptical

machine at the gym) and total body weight lifting. Tuesdays: 30 to 60 minutes

of cardio. Thursdays: hour kickboxing class. That will probably change next

month when the gym puts out a new class schedule. I am just hoping that my

favorite classes won't fall on my weight training days, because that is a lot

to do in one day. I like the fact that every month the class schedule

changes. That forces me to vary my routine. I was thinking that since I don't

go to the gym on Saturdays that I would start doing Tae-Bo then! I really

need to work it back into my routine! I miss it!

That sounds tough! I don't think I have a sugar addiction, but there are

certain foods that I really can't handle having near me, like donuts or

potato chips. Maybe you will have to go cold turkey? Get al of the sugar out

of your house. After a while the cravings will diminish. If that is too hard

(it would be for me), try to find some sweet snacks that are at least a

little bit healthy. What kinds of things do you crave specifically? Let us

know and someone here may have some good alternatives for you :)

Just a thought - I saw on Oprah the other day a programme about

Carbohydrate Addiction, and this sounds just like what those people

where talking about. Perhaps it's worth you guys investigating this

I understand that it's a biological addiction and it has given many

people a new understanding and knowledge to change their lifestyle

for the better.

You are not a pig! I do the same thing! Right now there is a bag of potato

chips sitting in my cupboard... I am not going to let myself have even one!

If I have one, I will want the rest of the bag!

it sometimes and I have been doing taebo for 2 years. It is a great

move to work your abs and improve your balance, though. You don't

have to lift your leg high at all. Even if you lift it just a

little, you will work your abs. You could also substitute regular

knee raises if the move is too challenging for now. In fact, I often

wonder why that very advanced move is in the basic tape of the live 4-

pack.

I think doing taebo 3 days a week as you start out is just fine. I

do it more (6 days a weeks of a combination of advanced taebo tapes

and cardio kickboxing classes) because I can (I have the time) and it

makes me feel good (more energy, chronic pain relief, mood relief,

sinus cleanser, ... ). My favorite times to workout are late morning

or early afternoon. The best time to work out, however, is when you

can do it!

Sure! Don't let it stop you from doing taebo, though! Exercise is

good for you no matter what.

To help with the sugar addiction, try healthier substitutes, e.g.,

sugar free gum, or fruit.

We all have cravings!!! I myself am a carbohydrate addict... However,

exercise helps me calm my cravings and lets me indulge more often than if I

don't exercise. So I would certainly not think that exercising would be in

vain!

Potato chips and fries (especially our local delicacy called " poutine " ) our my

biggest ennemies... If there is a bag of chips in the house, no matter where it

is hidden, I will find it and eat it all in one serving! (yes, I know I am a

, I wouldn't worry at all about not doing taebo while you are

enjoying your new gym. It's great to cross train. Your body will

love you for it. You might as well take advantage of the gym high.

Don't you love that feeling when you can't wait to get there and

start? Taebo will be there waiting for you when you are ready.

3 times a week is great! Especially since you are doing the Basic

Live tape from the 4pack....that's an especially tough basic

workout! You should be very proud of yourself :) That move you are

talking about is STILL tough for me! Start off with just lifting

your foot off the ground a little bit and pulling it in! Don't try

to get your leg as high as Shellie or some of the other people you

see in the front row. You'll get to there at some point, but for

now...just concentrate on gaining control over your balance and start

off low! You'll still get the same benefit from the move :) Hang in

there......the day will come that you will come here and brag that

you did that move perfectly :)

As for how often I do Tae-Bo...right now it's only about 2, maybe 3

times a week. But, that's because I'm training to run a marathon at

the end of April and I am doing LOTS of running! I do Tae-Bo on my

cross train days! Before I started training for the marathon, I was

doing Tae-Bo 5-6 days a week, alternating between basic and

advanced! For now...you are doing a great job with 3 times a week!

Once your body gets used to doing that, you can gradually increase

the days you do Tae-Bo if you want! It's good to give you body a

rest day in between workouts when you are first starting off! Good

luck and let us know how you are progressing :)

Hi ,

I think that three times a week sounds perfect for beginning...

actually, I think even to maintain after your at where you want to be

is only 3 - 4 times a week. I, because, I love Tae-bo and everything

it does for me, do it everyday. I have the time to do it, and it's

about the only exercise I get (besides stationery bike a few times a

week), so I like to do it everyday. I try to do a tape w/ some

floorwork in it three times a week, but I'm not real strict w/

myself. If I don't feel like doing floorwork I'll do a cardio. As

far as times go, most generally on Mondays and Tuesdays I do tae-bo

after work which is 5ish. On Wednesday - Friday, I usually get up

and do it before work which is 4ish. Saturday and Sunday, I do it

when I get to it.

Darcy :)

I certainly like sugar also, but I don't beleive myself to be

addicted. I do know that once you stop eating so much sugar like for

a week or two, your cravings should decrease. The more sugar you

give your body, the more it wants!! Maybe try kicking yourself in

the butt real hard and cut-down for a week or two and see if it makes

a difference :)

Darcy who had a bowl of rasin bran this morning w/out one speck of

added sugar - yee-haw!!!! I about have that new year resolution

conquered!! But now, I'm ashamed that it took me over 20 years to do

it!! It was much much easier than I EVER expected - duh!!

OH Boy, do I know what you guys are talking about... I don't know

what the words portion-control mean!! I am fine if I don't have a

snack at all. But, if I have one, then I want something else, then I

want another something else, and the cycle continues until I eat a

handful of everything in my cupboards before finally stopping!!

I actually decided last night - new goal... At snack-time to have

ONE snack...(okay, maybe two on occasion), but never anymore!!!

Hmm... I hope this is a realistic one for me ;)

Darcy who, last night, had cottage cheese for a snack w/ all this

talk about it - yum, I had forgotten how good it was!!

Have you ever tried Raisin Bran Crunch? I love that stuff and it's a

I crave anything sweet and sugary like candy bars, cake- you name it. I get

really moody everytime I attempt to stop eating sugar. Today is day 3 of no

sugar and I feel like my body is being deprived of an essential need, I'm

moody, sluggish, just kinda down and out usually some candy peps me back up,

I'm so used to eating it everyday, I don't know what to do with myself- I

feel like any minute I'm going to give in and then I'll just binge because I

feel so awful about giving in. It's like any addiction I guess- I wish there

was I cure- If anybody prays, pray for me I really want to get healthy and

make some progress in my life!

Thanx

I find myself doing the opposite, answering my phone at work " hello " and

then studdering to throw in the name of the division. Luckily, I don't have

very much contact with the customers and my phone calls are usually personal

anyway. LOL

I have a good one! When I was working at the customer service desk at a

grocery store, a guy I that worked up there and asked me to page someone over

the intercom. I was really busy with what I was going, so I didn't even think

about what he was asking, I just did it! Well, when he and his friends

erupted into a fit of laughter, I thought about what I had said! It was just

a normal name, but when said fast, it sounded like a derogatory term for a

certain woman's body part. I won't go into detail, but needless to say, I was

pretty mortified!!
