I found changing exercise routines is good for motivation as well as for

performance. After only 2 weeks of doing mild weight training, I find that

doing taebo is becoming much easier. I think it's great that some people can do

taebo everyday. But with my personality, I would get bored really easily doing

only taebo. However, I do need my " dose " of taebo, because they are the most

energizing and motivating exercise tapes out there!!!

able to do all the floorwork in the advanced live with NO problems :-

) Not even the butt work was that bad! WAHOO!! Of course now don't

ask me how my butt feels today! LOL!!

You are doing such a great job :) Tae-Bo and Running are a great

compliment to each other! Way to go on doing the Advanced Live :)

I have found that weight training GREATLY improves my ability to do

Tae-Bo! When I quit lifting back when I first started training for

the marathon...my Tae-Bo workouts were MUCH more difficult! It's

amazing how much it helps when you add weight lifting into the mix,

even if it's only a day or two of weight training :)

So, , how does it work? I am seriously considering biting the

bullet and getting it done just so I know but I'm so scared to hear that

number. I guess I know what types of things affect me in what way and I have

just avoided this particular thing because I think it may just send me over

the deep end. I mean, to know that I have done taebo SOMEWHAT faithfully for

a year and a half then to hear an unbelieveably high number could be

devastating for me. On the other hand, not knowing doesn't make me any

less fat. LOL Do they pinch on top of your clothing or do you have to

undress? THAT will play a HUGE part in what I decide. LOL It doesn't cost

anything to have it done so I should just do it, at least I'd know exactly

where I stand.

I didn't have to undress, but they don't go thru the clothes. They tested me

on my lower stomach, right under my belly button (my fattest spot, grrrrr),

the back of my arm, and the top of my thigh (on the front, not the side,

thank Goodness). All I had to do was lift up my pant leg and my shirt. No

disrobing! It wasn't invasive at all. If possible, get a trainer that you

feel very comfortable with. That helps a lot. Also, I wouldn't put too much

weight on the number itself. It is just good to have as a starting point.

Then when you get it tested in another three or four months, you can see how

much it went down :)

Thanks, ! I think I'm gonna do it. Maybe I will call tomorrow and

make an appointment. Unfortunately, I don't know ANY of the trainers so

hopefully they will throw someone my way that's pretty cool. They all seem

to be really nice, so I guess that says something. It will probably be a

while before I can get in since I can only go in the evenings and that's when

most other people can go to! Thanks, again!

Janick, we must have started strength training around the same time! I was

a little worried when I hadn't done Taebo for a few days that I might not be

able to keep up, but I didn't realize how much strength training helped me

stay in shape. I still fit my Taebo in for cardio workouts but do rotate

with other videos.

Jenni,

A body fat " test " is only as " accurate " as the method used (which vary

greatly) and how well the person doing the test knows what they are doing.

Instead of focusing on a number, I would focus on how that number changes.

Use the same way to measure, with the same person and you will be able to

see if your body fat has decreased. A number is kind of irrelative by

itself, but is a good starting point. Just like scales, every scale is

different. It's the same with body fat testing. If I weigh myself at home

and I weigh 120 and then I go to the doctor and I weigh 125, does that mean

I have gained weight? No, not necessarily. The only accurate way to see if I

gained weight is to use a consistent measurement, which in this case would

be my home scale.

You should not get bruises from measuring body fat with calipers. They

probably measured both skin and muscle, instead of just getting the skin

above the muscle. If they are doing the back of the arm, they should use

two fingers and gently pull to try to measure everything except for the

muscle. Sometimes they will shake your arm a bit, to make sure they don't

have muscle.
