Dern I just got a shippment from VitaLady Mike...no worries about ordering from Vitalady. As a general rule her products are geared toward WLS patients. How much to take can be a bit more complex as it can depend on the individual. I don't take Vitalady's "tender" iron because it gives me real bad vitamin belch to the point I just can't take it. However Iknow several people who do take it and do well. The key point is to take it "alone" and wait at least an hour before eating or taking other supplements. I'm scratching the cobwebs off my brain here so don't take this as gospel but I "think" it is recommended to take 6 of her new formula Tender Iron. All may be taken at once. You can always email vitalady and ask what the recommended dosage is. If you are taking the Proferrin...because it is a "blood" product it can be taken with food and calcium...less rules, less stomach upset and that is why I prefer it. I take 1-3 tablets per day spread out through the day. Many people believe you should break the tablet in half before taking it because it is lightly coated and this will assist in the breakdown of the tablet. Because it it cheaper....I also take standard process ferrofood (a heme, or blood iron) it comes in capsules so I don't break these. Also...Dr. K has told of recent reports coming out talking about how important taking Protein Drinks are in helping WLS patients to utilize Iron appropriately. This was specific to Using Protein Drinks as it is more bioavailable than eating meat. So if you are having Iron issues be sure to down a couple protein drinks a day!
