Guest guest
I belong to a co-op which allows me to buy bulk pretty much at co-op cost, the supply is somewhat limited. It's a good start -- and figured I could finish with sproutpeople <G>. I was wondering if anyone had sprouted rice. If so, do you have to buy it hulled? Thanks, Pam
Guest guest
Pam I sprout rice all the time I get a 20lb bag of california extra fancy short grain rice, soak it for 8-12 hours and then rinse 2x daily. My birds eat it mixed with other sprouts. I find you have to be careful with rice as it can easily get a little funky smelling and not all rice will sprout. n Rollings, PhD NJ Licensed Psychologist #4686 www.DrnRollings.com Sent from my IPod Touch > I belong to a co-op which allows me to buy bulk pretty much at co-op cost, the supply is somewhat limited. Guest guest
Thanks, n. I actually just found a website that includes sprouting rice - http://www.living-foods.com/articles/sprouting.html along with information on other thing to sprout. His focus seems to be auyervedic (may be misspelled) - but it still has excellent information. n I've just " unloaded " my first 2 batches of russian mix sprouts (one I gave away) - and next time will use gil's video instructions - I made WAY too may based on the instructions in the easy sprout container. That said, once decanted, I've put them in a plastic bag and into the fridge, and am using them in sandwiches, salads, and even omelets! Guest guest
Pam,Thank you for the info! I intend to take a look at that as well as 's link on steaming lentil sprouts. Thank you. Sproutpeople's Russian Mix is a great favorite of mine. Absolutely outstanding on sandwiches. I usually try to gauge how much to sprout as I usually have 3 things going at once, plus sprouts for my birds.I used to sprout rice for my cockatiels and I had posted it to a cockatiel enthusiast's group. This was about 10 years ago--well everyone wanted to sprout rice for their fids (feathered kids), but not all rice would sprout. So I learned that using a good California brown rice works best. marion

Guest guest
Thanks, - this product is available for me, through the co-op buying club. I just didn't have any idea what it really was.
