Guest guest
Just some things I noticed with my third batch...The Scoby is at the top this batch..the last two she has been at the bottom. I also noticed that perhaps I haven't used enough sugar or tea for the 4/5 of a gallon that I am brewing...no mold yet and am getting nice baby scobys. I used 4 tea bags and about 1 cup sugar..I brew for about 14 days as my house stays pretty cool...tea is still kind of sweet...so should I brew longer if I want tarter tea? or add less sugar?..... Also..since drinking the KT my acid reflux is back..haven't dealt with it in a while....any idea why?

That would be about enough for 2 1/2 quarts of water. > I brew for about 14 days as my house > stays pretty cool...tea is still kind of sweet...so should I brew longer > if I want tarter tea? or add less sugar?..... If you use the tea and sugar for just over 2 quarts of water as I suggested above, the sugar content should be fine. I think, the slow ferment may be due to the cooler temperatures. Keep fermenting until you have a good acidity. > Also..since drinking the KT my acid reflux is back..haven't dealt with > it in a while....any idea why? Your KT may be a bit too strong ...too much sugar could be a reason. My hubby used to have very bad acid reflux. The Kombucha habit turfed that out completely. He does drink his KT 1/3 diluted with spring or mineral water. How's your general water intake? I mean plain water....not things containing water like tea, coffee, juice, soup, but plain water. http://www.doctoryourself.com/reflux.html Have a look at that URL.
