Jim,

Boost ain't meat! lol Be careful, they make several types of Boost.

Wow. You bad boy! And, to make things worse, you are in denial. Tsk

tsk tsk.

Hey, dehydration is the fastest way to lose weight, but also the most

life-threatening.

As for your classes, don't you have enough credits to graduate by now?

That is what I did in order to avoid taking Statistics.

Marta

a friend indeed!

I'm with you at 204. Don't go down but have stuck....Doesn't matter what

I eat. If I eat less I stay the same , if I eat cake it is the same. So that

is maddening in it's self. I Think I might actually get to the 199.999999

eventually....LOL...But my body just don't give it up easily. I sure don't want

to be sick again to get there. Can you believe it has almost been 5 years?

, they told me that some of the tests can take up to three weeks. The

ones for the vitamins and such. I just had my labs done. I wanted them done

before my surgery and since my 3 year was coming up just shortly after anyway I

am having them done a little early.

I feel sorry for your past circumstances, the living in a car, lack of food,

insurance and stuff. Just get back on the vitamins, calcium and such as soon

as possible. Our bodies leech it and though it doesn't show for awhile, it

will show up and knock you for a loop. Make yourself a priority. You are the

most important thing you have. Without your health nothing else is possible.

So take care of you. I will keep you in my prayers, that things haven't

gotten to far out of whack for you. Just do as much as possible for your self.

We

all are here as mental support, but thats all we can do. We all want you to

do well. We all care about our fellow DS'ers. Let us know how things turn out.

Ask your doc for a copy of the lab report. They have to give you a copy.

Then you can visually see where you need to make adjustments. Regardless though,

get the vitamins and calcium going.

, sometimes when people hear that we have to have so much protein they

automatically think we have to have filet mignon and such. When really beans

are a good source of protein also. The cheap cuts of meat, especially liver

is some of the best things for us. It doesn't have to be costly things. I

have had people make remarks to me about things like that, and I make them aware

that it is not a costly way of eating. Just making wise choices. Also with

eating less, a person can afford a little more costlier items, as we eat less.

Or at least that is my way of thinking. I treat myself much more special now.

Of course I am 68 and I now feel like I am 45. I love being on the go again

and I intend to be active and treat myself better than I have in the past. I

was a mother, wife, grandmother and all that and somewhere I got lost. I

never put me first at any time. Now I don't make a point of being selfish, but

I

do look at things differently. I realize that if I don't take care of myself,

I cannot take care of anyone else.

I wish the best for you also. Pearl

Hi Everyone & Jim,

I know I'm going to get my rear chewed too. No worse .I had my labs

done.Almost 2 weeks ago.

After not having them done for a long time. I went through a few years of not

having medical coverage. Then myself and my best friend returned to FL from

CA.And lived in the car for a while..Long story there..Won't bore everyone..But

We didn't eat often either..So no food,means no vitamins...If anything.. I will

be the one person..That has been broke and a DS post op...I am expecting my

vitamin levels to be horrible..Dr.K himself might call me..I know how serious

this is..I get afraid Dr.K will tell me to have the surgery reversed..I can't do

that. My situation have improved..But money is still an issue...So I am waiting

to hear how everything comes back..I am a nervous wreck..I read how everyone

does good with supplementing..And they still have problems..So I'm sure..I may

be in trouble. I do try and eat well..I do know we can only do so much with

food...Sigh...

My hopes are if Dr.K doesn't think I'm a total lost cause.. He will have

suggestions that can help...I will do everything he tells me..I just need to

know where to start at...

So worried ..How long does it take to get the labs back?

Pearl,

Thank you for keeping me in your prayers. I do understand without our health

nothing is possible..That's why I had the DS in the first place..I just never

saw myself ever being in my past situation..That is why I am hoping Dr.K will

have suggestions. I will do whatever he tells me to do..I am that afraid . Going

through all that I did..I was worried.I kept telling my friend.. " This is so bad

for me " Having had the DS..I felt at the time he really didn't understand the

severity of not eating or taking my vitamins was for me..This past August I took

him to the support meeting we had in Orlando. He met a room full of DS

patients..Now I think he gets it..My words and concerns where echoed in the room

that day..People discussing our protein needs, and our supplements being a

lifelong commitment..And how difficult getting and keeping our bodies in healthy

range can be. Even in good circumstances..Let a lone impossible ones...

Just keeping my fingers crossed that I'm not too far gone...

Again Thank you Pearl...Holding my breath waiting to hear...

Take Care,

Jim

Since you are already taking ADEKs, I think it would be in your best

intrest to call the office and talk to them. They may want to target

one of the vitamins with a higher dose instead of All the A, D, E and

K. Let them know exactly what you are doing and find out exactly HOW

MUCH they want you to increase.

I'm glad your going to do a protein supplement. The protein in the

drinks are more bio-availabe to us and apparently you need the

advantage.

I'm glad your trying to stay on top of things.

Hugs

Jo

Good luck with your school schedule.
