His office staff has lost her new patient paperwork twice, and she keeps calling to set an appointment and they keep telling her that he is out of town. She also did not know that he did not accept insurance. She is not on any HRT after her hysterectomy. The only medications she is on right now are a blood pressure medication and Seroquel. She's getting desperate, and I have no recommendations or options to give her. She does have Aetna PPO insurance. Is anyone in the Houston area menopausal? Can anyone recommend a decent doctor to see for menopause? The only thing I can think of is Dr. LeBlanc with Ob/Gyn Associates. Her bio says she specializes in menopausal management. http://www.obgynassociates.com/leblanc.html Also, are there any good books about menopause out there? I am also not on any HRT due to severe endometriosis. My body converts even the tiniest bit of progesterone into estrogen which then fuels endometriosis. I would recommend Ob/Gyn only because I have had so much good luck there. Why is your mom hesitant to use them? Does she want natural HRT? If so, I recommend Dr. Randy Birken at Red Oak. My MIL sees him. He runs all the correct tests, even for thryroid and adrenals, and he prescribes Armour and bio-identical hormones. I would not recommend him long term for thyroid as he looks at TSH but he seems to be looking at my MIL's free T3 even more...who knows. Just the fact that he is treating her hormones correctly gives me promise. Might be a good starting and even continuing point for a long while for her. My MIL is also bipolar and has insomnia. I think he is helping her with that too. I have also seen Dr. Manso a few years ago. I liked him but he just wasn't experienced enough for my thryoid. Hormones? Maybe but it seems like you are having issues just getting into him and NO he doesn't take insurance. You can insist that he write you lab orders and go to a lab on your plan but that is it.
