Guest guest
Oh those days of nausea. Yuk. I remember even regretting the surgery at first. That ended quickly though. Im so thankful for it. Especially now that I am losing again from excercise and eating good- one day I week I eat whatever doesnt bite back. Anyway- I digress. Im so glad her mom is getting through it and she is so lucky to have Jo taking care of her. What an angel she is. I hope everyone there is doing better. It isnt a fun time but so worth it in the end. Guest guest
Sharon, you did a great job. You only left out that Steve shared his story as a part of the meeting. We also found out that is out of the office and had some surgery. The fairly young gal with the walker that has lost like 200 pds. that sat kind of at the back. I can never remember her name, but I talked to her and she has had some major problems and could use some prayers also. They are not related to the DS, but she has had some surgeries that went wrong and she is on meds for mental problems and it all was not workiing. Do you know who I am talking about. Her mother died a few months back. Her hair used to be real gray, but she had it a light brown color last night. Made her look much better. She looks great and she is so proud of losing the weight and she had the TT and panni removal this past year and she is so proud of being able to fit into the pants, whatever size, I don't remember, that she had on. She said she came because she was feeling so down that she needed to feel the support of all of us last night. I hope she did. I had to leave early because of getting my daughter home to bed, but I am sorry I didn't get to join all of you for dessert wherever. We had fun in the docs office and at s I thought. Those that didn't come missed out, thats all I can say. Guest guest
Just the introducing ourselves, how much we have lost, sometimes how we feel or small stories about ourselves, and newbies or those there for the first time or waiting on their surgery dates sharing that info. That sort of routine. Dee adds up how much weight those of us that are there that night have lost and shares it. It is almost always well over two thousand pounds. It doesn't seem like much when I say I have lost 145 pounds, but there are some who have lost a LOT of weight. I believe the most anyone that was there last night had lost was a little over 200, but I have seen nights when it was over 400 pds. That is one person!!! I remember there was a young black highschool kid one time, and he had lost around 350 pounds, I know it was more than I had weighed at my heaviest, which was 333. I told him, to think I thought I was so huge and you lost more than I weighed. Now that is impressive. We discuss whatever questions anyone needs an answer for. Just like on this board. It can be anywhere from questions about hair, gas, poop, well, as you can see, it can go in any direction. That is what we mean by routine. When you have gone to a lot of them, then the answers and questions kind of become routine. But like on this board, we are always willing to share our experiences. Each of us have had our own paths to follow. Some have had it easier than others. We had a great time visiting in the doctors office before we went to s. You never know who you will run into and the great thing is we all share the common DS, so we have that to draw us together. I have been at meetings where we saw, in fact I have been the one that asked to see movies of actual surgeries. For some that is a little gory, for me it was way interesting. I wanted to see movies of some of the plastics he had done. He has all kinds of things like that that he will share if people want to see it. So each meeting is different and you never know what to expect, but there is the " usual " . Getting to know each other, sharing stories about things that have gone on in our lives recently. Two guys recently went to Italy and told of what it was like, the one to meet his Italian family and them constantly trying to get him to drink wine. He of course knew as a DS we can't, or shouldn't drink. So he only took very very small amount of wine. Thats all. Guest guest
Pearl, Thanks for the information. The meeting sounds very much like Dr. 's which I attend here in Atlanta. I can't wait until the 13th November when I get to attend one of Dr. K's. I am very excited about that. Blessings, Have faith. Healing hugs- Vicki patricia {pat} wrote: I just want you all to know that I had a day ysterday from hell, yep I said hell. Started around 9-10 in the morning, had such horrible pains in the right part of my body starting up by my breast bone and down around the bottom of my ribs to my back...NEVER had this kind of pain.Pooped, farted and had dry heaves with burping, felt better, then around 3 it started again so bad that I called Dee,took her advice and went to urgent care at 3:30, sat there until 6 pm and by that time the pain had went completly away, but stayed...After Michell I got scared about the bowles, they did a urine test and it is kidney stones. Dee thanks for calling me back I was able to tell the pa that I had crystals in the urnine...THAT IS WHY YOU GET YOUR LABS DONE WHEN YOU GET THE SLIP FOR DR.K I now am going to make a appt with my pc for a ct scan and see what it says.... I don't want to go thu that kind of pain again, reminded of my gall bladder attacks. Guest guest
Hi Lilly!!!!!!!!!! v- Marta Spaeth wrote: rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr Re: yesterday >After Michell I got scared about the bowles, they >did a urine test and it is kidney stones. Pat, I know what you mean. You're talking to a walking " gravel pit " here, according to my latest c/t scan. At least that's what my PCP tells me, I don't have a few stones, I have the whole gravel pit inside my kidneys. ;-)) And I'm passing an average of two smaller stones a day right now. I'm so used to the process I don't even feel that uncomfortable unless it's a monster stone, about three times the size of a grape seed. Even then, with a little help form Toradyl and an anti-nausa drug, I can usually handle the pain without a trip to the e/r. Jerry
