Guest guest
My husband just went from omnivore to vegetarian and now vegan--incorporating as much raw as possible. We have discovered that hemp milk works for him.For his cereal, he likes vanilla hemp milk, for mine, I like vanilla soy milk. Hemp, in my opinion, is the thickest nondairy milk, while rice milk is the thinest and most like dairy skim milk.I would suggest trying your favorite hot drink with vanilla rice milk. I don't think the creamer that you use is vegan, but you can add some maca powder and a little vanilla instead, or try the vanilla hemp milk, which has more body to it than has rice milk--so you might not need or even miss the powder. Try different nondairy milks in your drink and see which you like the best--Oat is another one that often works for folks who are transitioning. Rice is like skim though. Almond is good too.You can make your own Hemp or Almond milk. I do make the Almond but not the hemp.I like the Ah Laska brand of fair trade organic vegan hot chocolate. Add it to a cup of nondairy milk and it is awesome. It is fun to try different things and see how you like them.Good Luck,n
Guest guest
Thanks n, I will try some of the things you suggest. I already make Almond Milk and really enjoy it. Looks like there is a whole world of " milks " out there to be discovered. The adventure continues! Guest guest
Inka falls into the category of " Coffee Substitite. " It is made of roasted grains, like barley, and chicory. Been drinking it for years. http://www.inkacoffee.com/index2.htm http://newatlasbev.com/36/tea-coffee/inka-naturalis-instant-grain-beverage/ > > > Hi there: > > I am trying to find out what Inka is. Guest guest
A few years ago I had to avoid caffeine and had to forgo my morning coffee (not to mention my beloved green teas!). I tried coffee substitutes like Inka and found I liked them nearly as much as I did coffee. For other health reasons, I returned to drinking coffee and teas but still remember the distinctive savory taste of the cofffee substitutes. I drank chamomile tea for years too. marionabout to make some " raw " lemon cookies
Guest guest
Whats Inka? Hot Drink Hi, I am transitioning from being a Vegetarian (25 years) to being a Vegan (hopefully 50 - 75% raw). I plan to make the transition by my 58th birthday in March. I gave up eggs a few months ago, and rarely eat/drink milk products. My one hangup is my hot drink. For some years I have enjoyed one of my own making; 2 teaspoons of powdered skim milk, a bit of no-fat International Delight French Vanilla coffee creamer, and one quarter teaspoon of Inka. I love both the taste and the smoothness. And I don't like any of the herbal teas I have discovered thus far. Any suggestions? Thanks. Guest guest
Thanks for the reply re: Inka being a coffee substitute. I have a large bag of similar brew from dandelions and such. Doesn't taste bad. Still enjoy my coffee, but am up for any suggestions for alternatives.
