Seriously, get an educational advocate, I'm also in the middle of a mess...I am so grateful I have her. DebiSent from my iPhone

Hello everyone,

I am currently "working" with the public school my two daugther's with Asperger's attend. They think everything is fine, me and 6 other experts/dr. disagree. They don't qualify for services that they need. I want to take them out 1-2 days a week to work on their current curriculum to curb frustration and low self-esteem.

Any opinions? Good idea, bad idea?

Thanks!!

Ok, I found mine by googling advocates for people with disabilities, then called a couple, told them my situation, was given phone numbers and followed till I found my treasure. I've learned through the years that all people don't work together well, so I kept googling and calling till I clicked with someone. Hang in there, you can do it! Our finances have really suffered in the past couple yrs, and the woman I found was even willing to work on a sliding scale. Good luck ;) Debi. Just a thought, check with the autism society in your area, they may have referrals you could start with. I know it's labor intensive, but honestly, life is....the advocate is like my super woman, she knows way more than what I have time to learn at this point ;)Sent from my iPhone

There are public cyber schools, private cyber homeschooling, and charter (public) schools, there are also yahoo groups in varies areas for homeschooling usually listed by the county in which you live. There are religious homeschooling packages and non-religion based stuff. Online, or self taught, there is correspondence for high school. You can do vo tech and homeschool in high school. There are so many options, not to mention co ops where you go to school for a few hrs and do the rest at home. Good luck!
