I found out today that my cholesterol and triglycerides are through the roof, as in sky high. Nice...more fun & more meds. Is this a result of the meds or anything that anyone else has dealt with?

Hi Kirk,

Yes, my cholesterol and triglycerides went through the roof too. I've battled going on the statins for years. They can be elevated also by stress. I've managed to bring mine down with diet and dietary supplements. Now I go to a new primary on Wednesday and I'm sure they are going to run a check on me. It will be interesting to see what my levels are now. My last check 90 days ago, everything was still normal.

Watch your diet, try and keep stress to a minimum. That will help a lot. What type of statin did they put you on? There was a recent report on Crestor that wasn't good at all. Lipitor is one of the better statins and if I had to take one, this would be my first choice. For now, I just take my supplement and eat healthy foods. It's worked like a charm so far. Ever eaten gazpacho? Make yourself up a batch of that stuff. You will make a vampire and everyone around you run for the hills, but it does wonder for cutting the cholesterol. LOL, garlic anyone????? Hope this helps.

Much love,

Terry

I have an appointment in Philly in mid August with a rheumey down there, but the name escapes me, I think it starts with an S.

I found out today that my cholesterol and triglycerides are through the roof, as in sky high. Nice...more fun & more meds. Is this a result of the meds or anything that anyone else has dealt with? My mother has always had high numbers in these two areas also, yet walks for miles everyday and is in real good shape.

Kirk.

My wife is out picking up my prescriptions as I type this so I will let you know what I am on afterwards.

What in the world is gazpacho???? I eat a lot of garlic powder (not salt) and my wife an mother in law put a lot of garlic in their sauce. It took me quite a while to get used to it, but I do enjoy the sauce a lot.

I used to eat anything except for meatloaf and liver. I was more than capable of eating a whole bag of Oreo's and drinking 1/2 gallon of milk in one sitting as recent as a year ago, but generally, I eat mainly "normal" foods, and eat a ton of cereal. My wife has me used to 2% milk, and I have cut the junk out as my weight is too close to 230 for my liking. What good is having a 52" (what it used to be, not what it is today :-( )chest if your gut hides it? LOL.

I was just wondering if it was from Stills or the high dosage of steroids for almost 6 months.

Kirk.
