Guest guest
http://www.medicarefind.com/MedicareWeeklyUpdate.aspx This is a link to the archives for a free weekly newsletter on updates posted to the CMS.gov web portal. A lot of the coding information I post comes from information posted here. I realize that I represent a minority, but I truly believe that at least the basics of Medical coding should be included in residency training. I am not saying that doctors need to become CPC certified, but if doctors in training aren’t at least educated during residency on the basics of CPT, ICD-9/10 and HCPCS coding, they won’t know if the people they hire to do the nitty gritty coding everyday are billing correctly for the services they performed. Since ultimately the doctor will be held responsible for all fraudulent billing claims, and could result in the loss of their medical license, I am not willing to rely on someone else without at least a basic understanding of medical billing and coding. In fact, I personally believe that Medical coding has become such a quagmire of murky water because insurance companies rely on the murkiness of the rules to improve their profits due to all the money left on the table each year by doctors, hospitals and allied health professionals. Check out the archives above, and if interested subscribe to the weekly update newsletter. You may find a little extra income that you didn’t know you could bill for just because of you lack of knowledge.
