Guest guest
Not sure about the timeframe, but my Dad is on Excelon in a liquid form. We just put a syringe type device in his mouth and shoot the liquid in. You might ask about this type since your Mom is having issues with the pill form. Bill Phelps Switch to excelon and other issues We took our Mom to the Dr. yesterday and I asked about the possibility of changing from Aricept to Exelon to see if anything will change. The Dr. did stop the Aricept and started the Exelon, low dosage 2 times a day. Mom still has a hard time taking the pills, even if hidden in something. Tonight the pill came shooting out like a cherry pit spitting contest, had to laugh. The Primary Physician thinks her issues are more heart related and the Cardiologist said 2 weeks ago he thought they were more dementia related. She is very weak and fatigued, she is dehydrated and doesn't eat a lot. I was curious to know if anyone can tell me a time frame when I might see results from the Exelon (if there will be any), since my Mom isn't eating a lot I hope this will be o.k. for her as they say you are to take the medication after your breakfast and dinner, has anyone experienced any side effects? Any information is appreciated. As always, thanks to the group. Judy Welcome to LBDcaregivers.

Guest guest
judy, exelon has an excellent caregiver assisantance program that can answer your questions directly, call and get on it, 877-memory 4 it is very very good program and they have nursing staff avaible for clinical questions, they call me about dad every 6 weeks or so, and help me with alot of things, they sent a jorurnal to document dads progress good and bad to tell the doctor and to make me appreciate the good days. good luck hugs sharon m a smile a day keeps the meanies away!!! laughter is a breath of fresh air! Guest guest
I'm so loupy now, I don't know if I asked this one. It says to take with a " full meal " . I lucky to get a few spoonfuls of food into my Mom. I'll mention it to the Dr., but not sure what to do.
