Hello! I've not used Yahoo Groups before, so please bear with me

during my transition.

I'm so excited! I have my consult tomorrow with Dr. K!

Here's some background on me:

I haven't always been SMO, but have been overweight since I had my

daughter in March of 1993. I've never had much luck with dieting.

The best I've done was on Atkins when I lost 35 lbs. As soon as I

slipped, I couldn't get myself back on it completely and gained all

35lbs back and then some. After my divorce in 2002, I put on over

100 lbs in just 4 years. I've been miserable to say the least! I

was told about the DS in August, 2006 and it sounded way too good to

be true. I started researching it further. I NEVER wanted WLS

before. Now it is my goal. I want so much to live like a normal

person again!

(I just moved to Bakersfield in August) In January of 2007, I went

to a seminar in Omaha, NE with Dr. Ranjan Sudan. The information I

got just made me even more certain that I need to do this. My

consult was in February. I then found out that my insurance

requires a 6-month Medically Supervised Weight Management time with

a Dr. or Dietitian. So, I did that and went to bi-weekly meetings

and monthly appointments. I finished that up on August 9th and my

husband and I moved to Bakersfield on August 15th.

I've decided to pursue the DS with Dr. K because of the expense I

would incur going back to Omaha for follow-up care. And I feel so

much better about Dr. K than I did Dr. Sudan already! I know Dr.

Sudan is a very capable surgeon, but I didn't feel that chemistry

when I met him. I was at the Support Group last Tuesday and Dr. K

was so down to earth! (I was the one who was his " remote control "

when he wanted to change slides.)

So, here I am. Excited for tomorrow. Hoping to have surgery by the

end of 2007. God-willing, it will happen!

I can't wait to get to know all of you! Take care and I'll give you
