It amazes me what a little sugar rush does to me now. UGH. It was not fun. It's funny, whenever I used to eat donuts or something really sugary, I would have to have some sort of protein with it or else I would feel incredibly sick. I never made the connection with the whole blood sugar/insulin level thing! I just thought I was weird, LOL. The best part for me is that I don't get that afternoon energy crash that I used to get. With two little kids running around, I can't exactly lay down and take a nap, LOL. I don't eat a whole lot of meat either, besides chicken. I mostly get my protein from cottage cheese, egg whites, and things like Boca burgers (I am addicted to those things). I don't really like red meat, so I don't eat a whole lot of it. I have found a few different low carb protein bars that I eat in between meals. Anyway, I'll quit rambling now!!!
Guest guest
Janick, I've ordered DaVinci syrups from www.netrition.com. I order things from the all of the time and they are a great company. Let's see... can give ya'll some more brands because she has tried a bunch, but here are mine: Worldwide sports and nutrition Pure Protein Bars: I like Blueberry Cheesecake and Peanut butter ... the Chewy Chocolate Chip made me want to hurl ... avoid that one. They have roughly 180 calories, about 4 grams of fat, 6 grams of carbs and 21 grams of protein. I also like the Advantage Edge Bar in Apple Cinnamon, which is made by EAS, I think... I don't have them sitting in front of me, but I think they had about the same calories 180 to 220, probably around 4 grams of fat, but only about 2 grams of carbs and 24 to 26 grams of protein. I am still looking for more so I'll let you know what I find!!

Ok, this brings me to something you guys would probably like to know about me. I'm a lacto-ovo vegetarian. I have been for four years beginning in late August. I could just no longer eat my fellow beings on earth and I am happy that I made this move, especially since meat use to be everything to me. Any other vegans around here? :-) Steve __________________________________________________

Mainly because I'm too lazy to cook anything, so I'm bad about experimenting with tofu. I tried once and it didn't work out very well. Although I do like some of the veggie burgers )!!!!!!! But I would have to have my dairy, love yogurt too much. Sandie, Tae and Bo )!!!!!!! ===== " Believe. Believe in yourself. Believe in the one who believes in you. Guest guest
Janick, Here is a list of low carb/zone sites that I put together when I first got back into zoning. Some of them should have many of the low carb bars listed on their sites. There are a lot of low carb bars now. I'd suggest experimenting with one or two flavors of each brand to see if you like them. They do have a different taste. Some I can tolerate, but others I can't stand..of course, I'm also known as the pickiest person on the planet <G>. Try the links that say nutrition products, I think if you search for bars, you'll find a lot. Off the top of my head, I can think of: Pure Protein, Protein Revolution, Lee Labrada bars (for her and for men), Atkins bars. www.expertfoods.com Barbara Pollacks’ Site www.proteinfactory.com Carb free whey protein www.titanic.kn-bremen.de/induction.html Low carb induction www.atkinsfriends.com/links.html. I'm in the process of compiling a " grocery " list for the next time I go shopping in the states for the stuff we can get here and I accept any suggestions!! This is a call to all you guys also. What are your favorite " healthy " foods?? Give me some ideas so my icebox will be packed once I cross the border! Tax free items are even more welcome (because I don't have to pay duties on them). TIA Janick who will be going on a short vacation to the coast of Maine in a few weeks (with Jordan, my dad and my mom) As Deb has said: " Fitness is a journey and it begins with the first step.
