Guest guest
Pat, I have been identified as having a redundant colon too by my GI doc a couple of years ago, but it was never connected back to my DS (which I had 8 years ago). What is the surgery and did you have any symptons that made them do the surgery? I'm very curious. Thanks for any info. Guest guest
Thanks Pat! I actually thought I was on the FB page:) I get it in through my email and just didn't check. I'll hop on and see if anyone has opinions to share. One of the things they are checking me for is a redundant or kinked colon since I've got huge bloating pain for non-identifiable reasons on occasion (even without any gluten or offending veggies) ..... It's good to know that there is a possible fix albeit through surgery and/or diet..... this raging storm is outta control!!! Blessings back attcha friend! Guest guest
Pat,Has the surgery helped the pain & bloating? Was it a painful, rough surgery? I've heard there's a chance for severe problems after a colon surgery? Did he do your colon & hernia repair at the same time? Ha! Questions questions! Thanks! Guest guest
Thank you for reply. That is exactly how I feel. I get that pain in the right side too and I'm in the bathroom for a long time in the morning. I just need to figure out if my insurance will cover Dr. Keshishian because I have CIGNA PPO. I would really like to have him look at me since I have been told twice I have a redundant colon. My DS was 8 years ago.Are you glad you had a surgery? Did it fix your issues?Thank you again,Kathy To: DS_Friends_Keshishian Sent: Tuesday, May 15, 2012 12:16 AM Subject: Re: Hernia appt today=Joyce Dr.Z went in and removed about 2' of my colon. I was hurting, bloating really bad and lots of gas. Would go poop, and no sooner than getting up off the stool, I would have to go again.I still go alot.I was having some pain in the right side.We decided to go ahead and get this done before it got really bad.My DS was 10yrs ago..Like we lose weight on the outside and get floppy, well our insides also lose the fat and now our colon is not held up by anything so it might get a kink in it..Hope this helps some. Guest guest
Hi Pat ,Was just wondering how you're controlling the bloating the only way I could control mine was through redundant colon surgery.ShearySent from my iPhone My tummy tuck was done at the same time as the hernia repair. If I eat white anything I will bloat,no fun, it is wheat all the way for me.It hurt, but you get that with any surgery.I haven't had any problems since, except for some bloating when I eat the wrong thing. Also sometimes when I poop, I will get up and have to sit back down and go some more, so don't know if I have a small kink or not..Not going to worry about it. Just got my heart shocked back into rythem need oral surgery to get a tooth pulled, and I want my other knee done..I am still trying to get over a fall I had at Easter, just can't get my body to doing what it is suppose to do.lol It will get better.
