ACL Injury

Hi there,

Wondering if anyone can suggest what gymwork to do for Anterior

Crucriate Ligament Injury. The doc says its not bad enough to

operate, but I have to strengten the tendons and quads/ major

muscles around the knee to compensate for the weak ACL. And the

gymwork should be light to avoid aggravating the injury.

Wondering what exercises to do besides the usual leg extension

machines for quads and hamstrings I supppose.

Thanks!

Well, the Hams definitely should get some work as this helps creates balance.

Many times ACL conditions is due to a lack of balance strength between the Quads

and Hamstrings.

Best Ham movement of RDL's (deadlifts). For quads you could try partial front

squats with a light weight. Of course, with these exercise techniques is of

number 1 importance. Also don't forget the calves as one of the two calve

muscles(gastroc) also figures in with the knee.

Thanks to all those who've sent me notes re this. Either through

the discussion group or otherwise. The gymwork has definitely

helped.

Is there any difference if I'm a soccer/ football player?
