Guest guest
Hello, my husband and I are the primary caregivers for my grandmother. She has had 2 strokes within the past six months. From everything I've read about various forms of dementia I am lead to believe she may have LBD. Mainly the hallucinations which are an almost daily thing right now. Thankfully, they are not frightening for her at this time. Her doctor has her on Namenda which did seem to help for a bit and this week he added Exelon as well. I just hope these meds help her. I know she will never be her old self again completely but I do hope that the good days will be more frequent.
Guest guest
Hi! Just wanted to say welcome to the group. I am so sorry about your grandmother. If your grandmother responds well to her medication, you probably can hope for some better days. It is just so hard to know because each LBD patient responds so differently to various medications. I am the primary caregiver for my father. His hallucinations have been helped with medication. However, some days are good, some days aren't. Is your grandmother recovering from the strokes? She may have more symptoms because of the strokes, not just LBD. Let us know how things are going for you when you have time. Glad you found us! Hugs, Piper
Guest guest
Honestly, we never knew she had the strokes until the neurologist told us. Looking back I can see that she was showing symptoms of a stroke but we just didn't realize that's what it was. The night she had the most recent stroke she did go to the emergency room where a CT was done but the doctor refused to do the MRI that we asked for. Really, we are lucky as she hasn't had any paralisis from the strokes no physical symptoms at all really only mental issues.
