Guest guest
Dear ...It's so nice to meet you! I am battling an up hill battle with this whole weight thing. The steroids have really done me in. Since February 2nd I have gained about 32 pounds! I am currently taking 60mgs a day of prednisone. I know that is awful! I was not eating anything different that I wouldn't normally eat. The weight gain seems to be more in my upper torso(face, neck, chest and shoulder area). I have recently lost 7 pounds though. The thing is...I am not exercising any more. I used to do the treadmill 4 times a week and walk my son, to school every day, but I don't do that any more. My pains are just too bad and half the day I am laying around because I don't feel good. I have been trying to eat low fat foods and drink a lot of water. I guess that is what helped me with the last 7 pounds I lost. I have opinions about "The Atkins Diet". I do not think it is healthy. My cousin is the fitness coordinator for the Fort Dix Airforce Base. And she is working up a low impact plan for me to get some exercise back into my life. My Rheumy Has told me to do what ever I feel I can tolerate..exercise wise. I do feel so un healthy. I have went up 3 dress sizes. Carey L. Guest guest
Good Morning, Carey, Yes, that's a good idea to ask your doctor today about the fish oil pills and see what he thinks about them. I started taking Calcium when I got old........reeeeeealy old.....because I was told to and also, I think, when I was taking Prednisone for such a long time. Does Prednisone do damage to bones??? Maybe it was protecting them somehow. I still take two capsules a day. I was taking Fosamax for a year or two but now my Rheumatologist said I could stop. Guess from my bone scan, my old bones are holding true ..... hope hope... Mi. Carmen
