Guest guest
" Thanks again for all of you advice about bags and gloves! Kerri " OOOOOOOhh!! I envy you so much about getting that bag! After all my impulsive spending of the last few weeks and all the surprises I have had, I'll have to hold off on buying the bag :-( I'll try to get it for xmas or my bday (I really thought I was going to get it for my bday this year, but I guess I'll hope and hint for it for next year!) Janick who saw a pic of herself 3 months ago, and can't believe how she's changed!

I was going to put sand in it but then I figured that it would be a lot easier to get out if I ever had to empty it for any reason. I am not sure if sand makes the bag heavier then water--I would think it would be--but water was easy to fill it up with. I just stuck the hose in it. I don't have any problems moving my bag, I just tip it and roll it. Maybe the sand is making the bag too heavy for you to move? Or maybe you could put the bag in a place where you wouldn't have to move it? I have regular boxing gloves and the leather wrap ones. I love the leather wrap ones although if I wasn't so lazy I would still wrap my hands because leather and sweat don't feel too good :0( Hope your hands feel better soon. I walk by my bag and hit it sometimes and it doesn't feel to good on my bare knuckles so I can't even imagine how they would feel after trying to do a work out without gloves on. Don't worry though, your gloves will be there very soon. I got mine (I ordered them from sportsconsignment.com also) within 3 working days. :0)

Or maybe you could put the bag in a place where you wouldn't have to move it? , I don't know how much water fits in the bag, but I know I put 250 pounds (minus what spilled) of sand in my bag. I tried tilting it and had to ask my husband for help. Once it is on its side, I can roll it. Unfortunately, I can't keep the bag in one spot because in order for me to use it, it has to be in the middle of the floor in the den. It's not too nice to have a heavy bag in the middle of the floor. Plus, it would be in the way to watch tv. The den is the dog- free room downstairs (just found out that my husband is allergic) so my husband watches tv in there when we are doing seperate activities (except when I tae-bo). We have the entrances blocked off with baby (doggie) gates. Do you have any hints about using the bag? Kerri

I think someone here said that sand makes the bag more stable. I don't have any tips for using the bag, except for recommending that you get the Impact tapes if you don't already have them. The instructional tape is great. Elena
Guest guest
Awesome Kerri!! You are going to LOVE the bag!! Can I ask why you chose sand over water though? Do you know if it makes a difference at all in the bag? Darcy who is also assuming that you ordered the fingerless gloves??? > I finally did it. I know the bag won't leak, and leaking sand is messy too, but... Yes, I did order the fingerless gloves. I ordered them on Saturday. I hope they come in three business days like said. If so, they should arrive by Wednesday, and I think my knuckles will be ready by then. The first two knuckles on my right hand are the worst. The knuckle on the middle finger has a large area with the top layer of skin missing. Do you have any impact tips for me? Kerri
Guest guest
We've had a free standing shaped bag recently and are waiting for a different one that's like the wavemaster full length one. This first one was basically useless, but I learnt that using sand instead of water makes it heavier, and you only really need to use sand if you can knock that bag over - which I suspect is unlikely for the vast majority of people. Water would make it easier to move (because of the fluidity) and like someone else suggested would be quick and easy to clean out regularly. I've also learnt from working with my partner on pads that you must support your hands and wrists (wraps or good fitting gloves), and you must be sure to punch correctly or you will hurt yourself. Jill who's still aching from a 'boxing' training session on Sunday, but feels good > > Woohoo! You should have a great time with the bag and gloves. Having a partner makes the workout tougher and more fun. I am so happy for you! Elena
Guest guest
Tips...hmmm.... Try not to get fustrated when you use the bag. It's a lot different then hitting and kicking air. I am still learning and sometimes it gets a little fustrating cuz I'm not as good as I'd like to be. However, it still is a TON of fun!! I don't really have any tips though, just practice, practice, practice Boy, I imagine your knuckles are sore. I have never hit the bag before w/out gloves. My hands are finally not swelling or getting sore with gloves anymore Darcy who did tae-bo gold yesterday w/ the bag (I just bought tae-bo gold) > > Awesome Kerri!! You are going to LOVE the bag!! I LOVE the impact tapes even though I don't use a bag. That must have been frustrating about the sand...but heck you got to pound the bag a few times to get rid of the stress!!
