Guest guest
Jo, you know I met your mother Louise a couple of months ago and told her of my experience, but for those that don't know, I was on three different diabetes medicines and they had been threatening to put me on insulin for some time, but I had been trying, really trying was the only reason they had not put me on insulin before surgery. Since the day of my surgery I have NEVER taken anything for diabetes and my A1C test was 5.1 the last time I saw it, unless it was lower on the last test, which I have not seen the results of yet. It had been going down each test, so it may be even lower. I have not taken any cholesterol or trigylceride meds either. So there are a lot of meds we can get off of. I am still on, and will be for life, as a result of the diabetes, meds for neuropathy in my feet and for my thyroid. But I am down from 17 prescriptions to 3, so I am happy. Those 3 are lifetime ones. So I know for a fact that diabetes can be beat. Guest guest
Thank you Jo, thats how I feel. Your mother will do great if she gets approved. I do feel this can be the help for those with diabetes that meds can't seem to help. Unfortunately, and it a person reads, meds put weight on you. When they made me go to that weight loss clinic before they would approve me having the surgery the doc took a look at the list of meds I was on and told me that it wasn't any wonder I had a weight problem. He immediately took one pill away and cut the amount of the other, then put me on 600 calories a day diet. Then, and only after I had lost some weight would they allow me to have the surgery, as everyone knows the rest is history, and I am doing great. I am down 143 pds. the last time I weighed. Doing great and not skeletal. Enjoying life. I know your Mom will too. Like 99% of us.
