Jo, you know I met your mother Louise a couple of months ago and told her of

my experience, but for those that don't know, I was on three different

diabetes medicines and they had been threatening to put me on insulin for some

time, but I had been trying, really trying was the only reason they had not put

me on insulin before surgery. Since the day of my surgery I have NEVER taken

anything for diabetes and my A1C test was 5.1 the last time I saw it, unless

it was lower on the last test, which I have not seen the results of yet. It

had been going down each test, so it may be even lower. I have not taken any

cholesterol or trigylceride meds either. So there are a lot of meds we can get

off of. I am still on, and will be for life, as a result of the diabetes,

meds for neuropathy in my feet and for my thyroid. But I am down from 17

prescriptions to 3, so I am happy. Those 3 are lifetime ones. So I know for a

fact

that diabetes can be beat.

Hey

I loved the enthusiasm of your Post! My mother is scheduled to have

Surgery with Dr. K (mid August). #1. She wants to get rid of her

demon...Diabetes. #2. Weightloss to aide a bad back and knees. But

the Diabetes is the REAL reason, with weightloss being the bonus

package.

I am sharing your Post with her. It is always soooooo helpful to keep

hearing The Joyfulness when people no longer have to deal with Demon

Diabetes!

Hugs

Jo

Pearl...Remember in the Old Pre-ds days when we all thought Diabetes

Meds were for a lifetime too? YEA!!! YIPPEEEEEE!

I was very glad my mother got to meet you. You are a perfect example

of a lady with some graceful age that has done splendidly with the DS.

Getting Thinner but not Sucked up skinny. Getting rid of a host of

Meds and Gaining an active lifestyle. EXACTLY the kind of Lady my mom

needed to meet!!!!!!

Hugs

Thank you Jo, thats how I feel. Your mother will do great if she gets

approved. I do feel this can be the help for those with diabetes that meds can't

seem to help. Unfortunately, and it a person reads, meds put weight on you. When

they made me go to that weight loss clinic before they would approve me

having the surgery the doc took a look at the list of meds I was on and told me

that it wasn't any wonder I had a weight problem. He immediately took one pill

away and cut the amount of the other, then put me on 600 calories a day

diet. Then, and only after I had lost some weight would they allow me to have

the

surgery, as everyone knows the rest is history, and I am doing great. I am

down 143 pds. the last time I weighed. Doing great and not skeletal. Enjoying

life. I know your Mom will too. Like 99% of us.
