Then to add insult to injury...the weight came back. darn, double darn! First, congrats for being such a survivor! I also admire your determination to keep trying to find a solution to obesity. Guest guest
Thanks for the email Jo.? Yes, it was a very trying time.? I was losing weight but not sure if the RNY was successful as I was not eating due to chemo.? I lost all of my hair and was very depressed for so long after all of this I never really developed new exercise habits. I hope to be able to get it right this time. Guest guest
I totally agree with your concern and with your comments about this young woman. I am also thinking that she seems to have a large number of organizations and community groups involved with her. It sounds like she is interpreting their limits and boundaries as mean. I suspect they are all aware of her needs and patterns of behavior. If we see them on the net, surely the people in her daily life are aware. I know you are rightly concerned but I am guessing that many people are trying to help her set up safe boundaries for herself including on the Internet. It must be difficult for her and for all of her support system. Thanks for posting those emails from her. Perhaps it is best not to reply to her. What she is doing is not at all safe for her. Our silence may be the best determent to her risky behavior. From: sondra Date: 2/20/2009 11:09:56 PM To: Autism_in_Girls_and_Women Subject: Re: Hello Everyone thanks to validate of my concerns to this. some people in the past posted of me some real concerns and some behaviors that ones need of to take of cautions with in regards to the postings of her a time back and they were of some concerning of the things they discovered and found that were of greatly inconsistent. This person who shared them to me was from another list and also had of much of the same concerns. that is of when I to tried of to no longer respond to the postings of this person now. I to not be of disputing of the indication of this person having of aspergers but she appears to not like of any limits to her and she is of resisting any attempts by her care supports to set any on her, even when it may be that they are of trying in her best interest to keep of her safe. I to also agree that much of her supports may be of failing her too in which she may be of to be interpreting things as mean instead of not getting it. such as to shake of the hands of the preacher might not be of a fobidden but her timing of when she wants to shake of hims hands mnight be of off and then causing an interuption to the service as a whole, so these things if not being of teached correctly can be of impacting her and causing her to feel people are of being mean. this I to understand from both perspectives. But regardless she needs to be of kept of safe and so feel it is of important for to find out how. sondra
Guest guest
Jay I to not be of to sended of those post that was of her and was of responding of to them. I t be of agree that ignoring usually works but for her it has not, she has been to do this sort of posting for years and continues to do them. my fear is that if we stay of silent it leaves of the worng sorts of people who might be of also be here to target of her in an unsafe way. my thinking was of to report of this to the care people of her care and maybe of ban her from this list not because she of bad or such but for her safety here. \ yes she may still post other lists but for here she will be of safe. because as long as she posts of those sorts of post she is of not safe and none here can guarantee of that there is of not a lurker here to cause of her harm. this ban would be of to protect of her and not be part of her unsafe behavior of solicting herself to the whole of the internet list. sondra
Guest guest
But how can we get in contact with her community of support people ? I know this is what you are attempting to do . It seems the best action to take. We just don't know if any " offender type person " will try to engage her trust. If we ban her from this list she will just go to other lists who may not feel as protective of her. It is a problem for sure. -- Re: Hello Everyone Jay I to not be of to sended of those post that was of her and was of responding of to them. Guest guest
JAY this is of my thinking in complete. it is of for her safe not anythings else as in true she means no harm, does not cause any issues or harm but is of not being safe by doing this, not to just this list but she posts like this much to many many lists the same sorts of posts. my concern is of for her not others, because was thinking to self what if whe I to be of gone one of my daughters were of doing this and no one assured of her safe that would break of my heart. My missy has beent o do much similar things to net in the past and it fears me to know how the computer can be of a great tool and also a dangersous one. off topic i to be of freezing much so this last two days and cant get of warm. I to went out long enough to get of a good lunch of chineses general tso's chicken and lo mein and now full but still freezing so will cuddle to my blankets and a heat pad to warm of me sondra
Guest guest
That is just how I look at it. If she were my daughter, it would break my heart because of the risk . I hope you get warm. We are waiting for a snow storm, again. That will mean I need to shovel for over two hours to be able to get my car out of the garage. -- Re: Hello Everyone JAY this is of my thinking in complete. it is of for her safe not anythings else as in true she means no harm, does not cause any issues or harm but is of not being safe by doing this, not to just this list but she posts like this much to many many lists the same sorts of posts. my concern is of for her not others, because was thinking to self what if whe I to be of gone one of my daughters were of doing this and no one assured of her safe that would break of my heart. Guest guest
jay that is of why for self would die if lived in Canada because of the much much cold and same with Alaska it is of a climate that would be of the death of me. If it were of not for my therapist and treatments in the areas I to live would move of far south. But not willing to risk of the loss to that in the life of me right now. I to think need of a tropical climate with much sun and little to no cold, no snow and it needs to have of oceans near by..... still chilling but not freezing. I to hate of the cold much so. sondra
Guest guest
I to often wonder how those with autism survive of the cold places of living and much much long time winters when already so sensitive to inputs and so wonder if they are more than normal challed by season affective disorders? sondra
Guest guest
We have the opposite problem, my children hate wearing clothers but with it getting down to -9 degrees they have too, we do have to keep the house warmer as they have a tendency to strip and say they are hot even when it is cold! Guest guest
/ I to often wonder how those with autism survive of the cold places of living and much much long time winters when already so sensitive to inputs and so wonder if they are more than normal challed by season affective disorders? sondra /Hi Sondra- I can't speak for anyone else's kids, but my kids don't seem to mind the cold at all- if anything, it's the hot summers that bother them more. My daughter loves it when it gets cold out (I think because then she's " allowed " to put more layers of clothes on, and she likes wearing a lot of layers. All of the kids still love going outside and playing in the snow (a lot more than I do, that's for sure). None of them seem to be affected by seasonal affective disorder (again, at least not as much as I am)...but when it is still winter in late February and March everyone is definitely ready for spring. I don't think that's as much of a spectrum thing as a Canadian thing. They do have some definite problems when the seasons change, that's for sure. For a few weeks before the seasons change everyone has a lot more behaviour problems, generally either reach a plateau in learning or regress for a bit, and are just generally miserable. But as soon as it gets warm (or cold) and stays that way everyone settles down a bit. has a lot of problems with clothing and the " in-between " seasons time when you're not sure whether to wear a winter or spring coat- as far as she's concerned it gets cold on December 21, warm on March 21, and she has no interest in what the weather is actually doing outside if it's not seasonal- she's going to wear the clothes for the season regardless. I think that because they've grown up here they're just used to making the best of the cold (and the heat in the summer)...I know that everyone is really happy when the hot weather is over though. Guest guest
Thanks for updating us on you. I wonder how you were doing. Whooo hoooo at still being SVR at 6 months. You got it made!! I tested last week for VIRUS, I am still SVR after 6 months, and this was my first treatment and if ever needed again, I will face it once again with a positive attitude and continue drinking lots of water to minimize the effects of the medicine (it really works). So I want to say that it is not easy but we can do it, we can make it easier on us and in our families, so lets not be selfish, lets think about the ones supporting us on this trip.Good luck to all,LoveLuiz Member of "Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association""ISASI - International Society of Air Safety Investigators""Aviation Safety Foundation donor Member""FAA Safety Team"
