Hi StacieI see a revision in your sisters future, though I know it sucks! In the mean time....ditch the ADEKs, they just do not have enough bang for the buck.To Replace your ADEKs:* D3-50 at least 3 doses a day. 150,000 iu's* Bio-tech Vitamin A at least 100,000 iu's (4 doses)* K2 as MK-7...150mcg...at least 1-2 doses* Dry Vitamin E 400 mg.(you can find it all at Vitalady's site)I would also suggest she take:* Iron, either Vitalady's (I'm not sure how much folks take because I belch these vitamins too much so I don't take them but many have had decent results)or a Heme Iron, I take 30 mg of heme but she may need more.* 4-6 protein shakes per day plus eat lots of meat. Mix the protein shake in only 3-4 oz of water and use it to take your pills! An easy way to get both in.* Calcium Citrate at least 2000 mg. divided into 4 doses of 500 mg.* Magnesium Glycinate(best absorbed into the

cells) 250 mg. taken with each 500 mg. of calcium. If she has trouble with constipation then take Magnesium Citrate.* 2 multi's per day...divided morning and evening* 1 B-50 complex (maybe even a b-100 complex depending on her status)* Primal Defense Ultra Probiotics (3 per day)* Vitamin c 3 doses of 500 mg. divided.* b-12...a high dose 2500 mg or so* A copper and Zinc supplement...(you will be getting some in your multi but she is low so take more, Shrugging mayby 50 mg. of zinc and 2-5 mg of copper)Most things you can find thru Vitalady, a search on Amazon, Swansons Vitamins, VitaCost.com, vitamin world, costco....I would normally say to call Vitalady and read her your labs to get her advice...but her husband had an accident and her world is spinning right now.Start slamming her with these vitamins and protein, see how she does. If things aren't better in 6 weeks, then she must really look into a

revision for a little Fine Tuning. Being 6 years post and still losing weight is very "telling" that she is overly malabsorbing.HugsJo>> Hi Everyone,> > My name is Stacie and I have been following you all for a while, but not for me for my sister. She had a DRDS about six years ago and was doing well but in the last two years she has had major trouble keeping her numbers up. She is severely anemic and low in vit d, copper, zinc, mag, etc. She takes ADEK and other supplements, but it has gotten go bad she goes in almost monthly for blood transfusions and iron (supplement) infusions. She is very frustrated because her

quality of life is poor. She has talked to Dr. K and he is leaning toward a revision. Has anyone else had similar problems and been able to correct things without a revision? She has gone from 343 to 140 and right now she is actually still losing weight. Were a little perplexed but I think there is hope. You all are very knowledgeable with the surgery so any insight will definately help. Thanks!> > Stacie>

Hello Friends of DS Surgery, This is Stacie's sister, my name is Chaundra. Life has beenso hard for me this year. I've been so sick this year as my sister has told you. I have decided to have a revision it is scheduled for next week on Oct.20th. I cant take this low feeling and lack of energy anymore. I've had a blood tranfusion every two to three weeks just to have my numbers drop again in a few weeks.

I would like to know if anyone had a revision and how are they doing. I read the email about the woman that had dropped to 98lbs and is now 130lbs and feeling pretty good 6 weeks post surgery. That is one of the reasons I decided to go through the revision.

I would like to know has anyone else had a revision and if so, Did you gain alot of weight, Does your body still have malabsorption problems and Do you still have to take all the vitamins and supplements? I really have trouble taking all the vitamins and minerals through out the day. My stomach stays upset and Ive just feel very overwhelmed. I weigh 136lbs right now and I've lost 30lbs since July 2010. Thanks for your input, Chaundra

Hi , I have been wondering the same thing about Idalia. Until Dee had mentioned what had happened, I thought it was too personal to share with the group. I am curious how serious our heath has to become ? To have to have the DS reversed? That would be my greatest fear. I was so huge !!! I to, have had health issues, most steming from extremely low Iron levels. Lately out of the blue, I had a small abscess in my navel. The doctor felt he did not have to do anything more but prescribe antibotics. I still have this tingleing sensation in areas of my abdomen? Worries me a bit because, this came out of nowhere !!!! To me my whole stomach area is a problem, it feels as if I have another hernia, my stomach is hard and sticks out under the breasts. Ever since the panni back in 04 my stomach has been

very tight feeling. Sadley no longer flat !! I have small lumps near my navel, and the area that sticks out . I hope all works out well for Idalia, and she recovers completely and very soon... Hi Everyone,Just want to say that I was quite taken by surprise about Idalia needing a revision back to her "normal anatomy"? I guess I missed all about that as I had no idea. I know she was having some medical issues, but really did not know what. I am sure she tried Creon and some other stuff to help with absorption, right?. I never heard mention of any of that. When did she have her DS and who did it initially? Just wondering. Was it a reputable doctor? How long has this been going on? I have had some personal issues in my life, so maybe I just wasn't paying attention. I really hope she heals up well.
