Guest guest
Thank you! The Right Wheelchair Campaign Catches Attention of Congress As a result of your advocacy efforts, 34 Senators and 71 Representatives signed the letter to Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Leavitt asking him to modify Medicare’s “in-the-home†restriction for aiding independence and improving access to the community for people with disabilities. We are now awaiting his response. Since May 2005, this site has generated over 21,000 letters to Congress. All of your hard work and efforts sent a clear message to Congress that this restriction threatens the health and independence of people with disabilities and runs counter to the goals of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Administration’s “New Freedom Initiative,†and the Supreme Court’s Olmstead Decision. We thank you for all your hard work. We encourage you to follow up with your elected officials and keep checking this site often for updates. Together we can repeal Medicare’s archaic and unfair “in-the-home†restriction. In order to continue this fight and others we ask you to help us: Spread the word and tell your family and friends about the Right Wheelchair campaign. Our continued success will rely on more people like you who care about the issues facing people with disabilities.
