Guest guest
Hi Everybody ! My first post in quite some time has to do with what seems to me to be quite common regarding yoga (iyenger). Where I go there is always the same routine of poses (a sequence of two) that we do at the beginning of each session. Both have to do with the adductors. As yet I have not asked the instructor 'why' but can feel a increasing 'need' to do so. My question for people stems from what I view as subtle improvements in my own flexibility and how this MAY relate to which poses the instructor has us do. By this I mean that, generally, we do indeed spend quite a lot of our (the group) time on hamstring and glute poses, which for the majority are the areas that are the tightest. I would like to hear others' opinions and thoughts as to WHY they believe that the hamstrings and glutes are generally so damn tight for MOST people.
